rev1 trd rep

Post by andya24 »

been on here for some time now and thought i should start documenting my progress/build

unfortunatly for me i dont have hundreds of pics as i flattened our camera at alton towers last year

little bit about me...im Andy from north yorks and always have had a passionate interest in cars, particulary modifying and jap street race culture

i have owned a gen 7 celica and couldnt fault it.gorgeous car but unfortunatly no pics :(

my next car got me hooked on power

Image

Image

after that little beauty drained me dry and got me hooked i unfortunatly had to do another tour of afghanistan and made the desision to sell her on

when i got back i bought my first mr2! a rev1 n/a

Image

fantastic little car, used to use more oil than bp,stalled on idle, rattled to death at anything the other side of 60mph but what a charecter...i was hooked on mr2's
i finnaly bought another car to save the embarresment of stalling at ever traffic lights etc and came up trumps with this rev3/4

Image

again a great car, completly standard but n/a i toyed with the idea of a turbo conversion and it was whilst i was doing some reasearch into that i came across my first sighting a trd kitted mr2
i had to have one so the search began

took me months of waiting and searching but eventually one came up here on the forum
i put a deposit down and then a month or so later took the 5hr jorney down to see here,it clearly needed some but the price reflected that.
i have since had to spend a fortune but i do not in anyway blame the bloke off this forum...more the bloke who had it before him(long story)

so anyway back on track i taxed the car down there and set off.........didnt get far

Image

coolant was p1$$ing everywhere and snow was getting so bad i gave up and got her recovered home
it was then i met peter at sbits
we got her in for a new turbo as the old one was smoking, sourced a good one from phil(magic beans)cheers :thumleft: and set about replacing the heater hoses that run ontop of the fuel tank

after we managed to do the coolant i was back on the road....but not for long :(
the car didnt want to boost at all and stuttered like crazy
we changed the plugs as the gaps were huge and incorrect and took the manual boost controller out of the vac lines..back down to stock boost but the car pulled better and felt faster because of it
we then replaced the dump valve for the stock re-circ and again its made the car so much better
unfortunatly due to poor wiring we had a small fire behind the dash so that meant peter at sbits spending a day fixing my elictrical gremilins

but i now have electric wingmirrors!
amongst many mony other things a new hub and ball joint was sourced and replaced
new steering wheel, dash and seats and have been intalled although currently pete is fabricating some rails for these bad boys

Image

many many more jobs coming up main sourcing some wheels as mine are not holding air and getting the car into the bodyshop for some touching up

il shall update as an when things progress but what a journey so far! some more pics of my car

Good stuff mate, I've heard tales of woe with this car. Glad you're getting her back to her former glory!

Looks good, the car is in safe hands at Peter's :thumleft:
