Busy day today, albeit still without some bits I'm waiting for (Royal Mail... )
Replaced a few of the tired old hoses, to now match the blue of the existing hoses.

Time to tidy up the courtesy lights, ready for their new bulbs..
Old and dusty
Now shiny. Just needs the LEDs to arrive

Door cards mounted. No photos to the process, couldn't be bothered and it's not like people don't know

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)
Finally the new crystal clear headlights arrived, along with the bulbs
New headlight bulbs
Boxes, boxes full of lights
...Boxes full of boxes then
Crystal clear, just as the man said they would be
The bum end is not so clear
Stock headlights
Bit of a difference
Much cleaner. Looks "pretty" now to me
Let there be light

Next up was more LED loveliness. This time the rear license plate light.
New LED cluster bulbs. I do like my LEDs
These have seen better days!
Scrub scrub scrub. Dry too of course
New skool vs old skool
Mmm clean and white LED light
Disco

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)
The courtesy LED clusters finally arrived yesterday. So in the glorious sunshine I decided to get them fitted
Decided not to use the adapters
Fitted, with a wire tuck instead of loads of trailing wires
Done
Passenger's side
Done
Easy sauce

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)
Been a bit quiet in this thread for a while hasn't it
Work has been done, although no photos, as it's not that exciting.
- SSQV BOV out
- OEM BOV back in and recirculating.
- Air hoses all replaced with blue
- All cluster lights are now LEDs (indicators etc) - Much better
- Final amp and mounting board pulled from the Frunk
- Frunk cleaned out and wires tidied
- New seats collected
All of the above in preparation for today's trip to Santa Pod, for the inaugeral RWYB day. This is do have photos of, lots of them and videos......
Tomorrow though, now I have my adrenaline come-down and a wee drinky

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)
Good morning all
It's a new day, the sun's out, there's a fresh chill in the air and I'm slightly groggy. However it's time to round up yesterday's adventures
The day started with me feeling slightly dejected, due to a suspected user created boost problem. However some quick tampering luckily proved to have solved the problem so back at full power, as well as the wonders of no VTA BOV sound!
We arrived and after signing in and having a nervous energy toilet break I was ready to go.
In the queue for the first ever pass. It's complete sensory overload being sat there, full of nerves, excitement, anticipation. All while being surrounded by some serious equipment!
Got my number for the day
The first pass was a bust, at a 15.9. Poor start, spinning tyres, missed gears, nerves etc. However I was alive and eager for more, so back in the queue! Next up I ended up next to another tubby, what are the chances of that?! The only other 2 there too
My "Pit Crew" also took a video. Not the best start, however once it was going and sucking in all the air in the world it all went beautifully

I did a couple of passes in my friend's Skoda Superb estate, as he was interested to see how it performed. This things huge, had two people in, aircon on and The Fast and The Furious playing on the in-car DVD player. Sufficed to say we got some funny looks and probably the odd snigger. We went up next to some modded old van type thing, fully stripped and on slicks. I set the car into Drive (it's an auto), rolled up to the line, waited to the lights and then punched it. Off we went, car driving perfectly, took the lead and ultimately finished first. All while we're sat at a steady 20 degrees, with heated buttocks and a movie playing Utterly surreal! Next pass, AC off, Sport auto set and a 15.9 pass. Which is impressive for a 1600kg car, with stuff in the boot and a passenger!
I love this photo! Taken by my friend
One quick little Golf!
Time sheet for the day
Apparently I was filmed by a crafty little in-car camera on one of my runs. Excuse the "War Face", I'm really very friendly This was put together by a friend, who was on a passenger ride http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MpsT0Zz ... e=youtu.be
We took a LOT of photos, but I'll spare you the effort of trawling past them all
In summary it was an amazing day! Something I've wanted to do for a long LONG time. This time back in September we were there watching the FIA drag finals. Just a few months on and The Mule is in our lives and i'm doing the thing I've been in awe of for so long. Started the day doing a 15.9 second pass, finished on a 13.4 second pass, so a healthy improvement. Left the place fully addicted and considering the upgrade path from here
If you've never done it, do it. Even if just one time!
Right, back to the upgrades. More to follow....

Oh, looks like I missed one. Yes, I lost However in my defence it's not your average road car.

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)
SSQV removed and shortly up for sale
OEM recirculating BOV fitted and performing exactly as desired. There's still some noise but it's pleasant now. The car feels happier for it too
New cluster rings
Old cluster removed, again! Note the new speedo, as the old 160mph unit was broken and not correct for the car anyway
Disassembled
Rings glued on
Reassembled
Back in the car. It's been months since the cluster had the plastic cover over it in the car. I'm not sure if I like it?! Note the new LEDs behind the indicators
The same guy who supplied the rings is making me a bit of something custom for the engine bay and frunk

Nice progress mate, the lights look very good. Where do you source them from if you don't mind me asking? drop me a PM if you prefer.
Good imporvement on times, will be a while before I go on any drag strips as need to swap the engine first... sometimes I do think I should have bought a rev3 turbo as my base car instead of the anni..
Keep up the good work

Thanks
I bought these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400280975094? ... 1497.l2649 as they got some good reviews and ticked the boxes at the time. So far I'm really pleased with them.
I'd like to maybe arrange for a bit of an IMOC visit to The Pod at some point this season. I think it would be awesome to have a day dominated by our beloved 2's

We're already planning the next visit and I'm watching the various videos over and over, to see where I'm doing it wrong
Maybe we'll get a group together for the future visits?
