[Mk2] [Generic] Bilsteins

Post by TRINDA1664 »

Hello

Has any one got any tips on how to service bilstein struts? E.g spray WD40 on the rod and work it up and down?

Also are the bilsteins struts rebuild able?

Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan, I've been looking on this suject for a few months, and it appears that the bilsteins are not rebuildable as they are sealed.

Try to find replacements, but new ones are expensive !

Bilsteins are not rebuildable unfortunately, and as said they are not cheap expect £120-150 a corner for the standard black bilsteins and 160-180 a corner for the yellow bilsteins, failing that get rebuildable struts and drop uprated inserts into them but they not cheap either!

Koni adjustable SSK. Work well, and guaranteed for life. About £500.

All it is I have brought some second hand bilstein and want to give them a quick oil/service before they go on the car. But if there is nothing that can be done that is fine.
