Having decided against getting my stock cloth seats re-trimmed, I'm sizing up a few replacements. Naturally I have some questions related to this (as always)
What are the size limits of what can installed? Is it the bolsters I need to be careful of, width wise?
Any suggestions of which seats would make good replacements? I've seen that both aftermarket and seats from other car models are used, so am interested to hear what others have done, seen or would suggest?
My requirements are:
Black (primarily)
Not leather
Comfy
Adjustable (reclining, lumbar etc)
Standard seatbelt fixing
Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions

Re: Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions
I'm sure most regular seats will fit fine as long as they're not noticeably mega wide, anything from the likes of Recaro, Sparco, Corbeau etc. I think the most trouble you will have is sourcing appropriate seat rails - unless you fabricate some yourself.
I'd LOVE a set of Recaro's, but they come at quite a hefty price tag

Re: Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions
I've sat in tons of different seats in different cars and at demon tweeks when I was choosing mine for my old 106 GTI.
I had corbeau carrera seats in the GTI, black cloth, quite comfy, look the part, recline, and can accept standard seat belt. cost about 550 iirc about 3-4 years ago including frames.
Now i'm considering changing my passenger seat as I have one of the rare Toyota Rev 3 recaros as the drivers seat and a Rev 1-2 recaro as passenger.
Personally the Recaro Speed is the closest you'll get to the Toyota Rev 3 Recaro. it's the one to go for tbh holds you in well, looks the part, can get it in black, reclines, accepts seat belt oh and by far THE most comfy seat thats ever graced my ar$e. I once did a day trip from Birmingham to Weymouth and back again...not one ounce of back pain was a real pleasure.

Re: Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions
There's a few i've seen and like. There's a pair of Corbeau Boss available at the moment, which tick all the boxes. It is easy to get carried away and throw £1500 at some, however it's important to think what you actually want them for, rather than that ultimate look.
The Evo seats look really good, it's just a shame they're not black.

I got some very nice Recaros for mine. No idea what they are, but they look so good.
I'd like a set of Recaro rails as I ended up building my own... And they sit just a touch too high.
If anyone could identify them that would be cool
No pictures uploaded yet of them in car... But they are really nice.

P.S.
A cool seat to have would be either Honda DC5 Integra recaros (mega expensive second hand, very in demand) or Honda EP3 Civic Type R recaros (there's a few styles, all very nice)

Nice seats
I'm expecting to need custom rails, however it would be good if it could be avoided.

Re: Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions
They're DC2 Recaros bud. If you know things about Integras, that's the earlier and far more common version.
These are the real deal:

Excuse how lairy they come across on Google... Very nice in real life.

Re: Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions
My boss just sold his Audi RS4 which had some epic Recaro seats. Coincidentally, Edge Automotive have just retrimmed a set of these for a Supra.
Those seats are probably worth more than the majority of cars on here are though...

In black they're perfect! Well, bar the red stitching.
General price for them?

£1300 a pair though Plus as a driver of a rival German brand, Audi's are my mortal enemy

Re: Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions
I'd go for these if I was switching my seats out
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Bride-Digo ... 3f14b01126
I like the standard seats in my car now, I'll prob get some in the future when they look like they've about had it though lol

Re: Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions
I spotted those and they're on the consideration list for sure. Something about the ad makes me suspicious though, especially the "Private" feedback etc
Re: Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions
It's worth bearing in mind that there are a lot of fake seats out there, especially from the likes of Bride. Do your research before splashing the cash mate

Re: Maximum seat width and aftermarket suggestions
Is it just me or are all seats at certain price points essentially exactly the same, bar different colours, fabric finishes and logos?
Those Cobras are nice though.
