Wheel Fitment Help

Post by Zogbee »

How would this setup fair under the arches?

Front:
16" x 6.5", +55 offset
Rear:
16" x 7.5", +65 offset

5x114

Good to go or mods required? Thanks

Someone will probably correct me, but I'd say that they're good to go :thumleft:

Offsets are too high mate!

Ideal offset for aftermarket wheels is around 35.

Also, when buying wheels make sure the center bore of the wheel is is 60.1 or greater so you can fit spigot rings if required.

Center bore less than 60.1, and it won't fit the MR2s hub.

The offsets would fit though wouldn't they?

They'd sit way to far in the arches and rub the suspension on the front.

Stock MK2 offset is +45, these are 10mm further in the arches than stock at the front and 20mm further in than stock at the rear.

Aaaahhh - my bad. I thought that they would sit proud rather than into the arch.

Potentially I guess he could get away with the wheels with a decent set of spacers on?

Yeah, massive spacers required, and longer studs. I wouldn't bother, I'd look for some other wheels that are closer to ET35.

Wouldn't need longer studs with hub centric adaptors.

Can get 15mm, 20mm, 25mm and 30mm ones. They have their own studs.

If the wheels are REALLY cheap then they are worth getting and then get the adaptors.

You would want a 25mm->30mm for the rear and 15mm->20mm for the front.

Yeah a great set of enkei's £200. Will generic ebay hubs do the job? If you have any recommendations?

Just make sure you get something hub centric, I think you guys call it spigot rings?

Because you need the wheel to centre and sit on the hub ring, and the studs and nuts just hold the wheel in place, without the hub ring the wheel studs take all the weight.

Yeah seems a bit expensive... :(

Found a new set-up, how would these fit?

45ET
Front 8J 215-45-17
Rear 9J 245-40-17

Thanks again

Better, you really want 10mm hubcentric spacers with extended studs to bring them out flush.

The fronts would need the spacers as they'd rub the strut with a front ET of 45. I'd also opt for 215/40/17 tyres on the front.

Spacers cost from memory about £115 a pair new (10 extended studs and 2 x 10mm hubcentric spacers)

Hope that helps mate.
