Re: Speaker upgrade
JL Audio do some nice 3.5" speakers if you want them to fit as direct replacements.
I have some custom door card mounts at the back towards the door pillar however.

I guess my standard size for the rears are 3.5 inch?
Would i need to do any extra wiring or connectors for this?

What, guys, something like http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/products/produ ... .0.0?pp=20&
Re: Speaker upgrade
The magnet on those may be a little big for the rear. FYI fronts are 4" and rears 3.5", i use infinity kappa all round but i dont think you can get the 3.5" anymore.
Re: Speaker upgrade
I have no radio, no aerial no speakers in mine
The aerial assembly alone weighs more than a kilo

100mm IIRC.
It is about the biggest problem in an MR2, getting anywhere near a decent sound. I admit I never achieved anything anywhere near any good on the three MR2s I had.

Re: Speaker upgrade
A 10" sub behind the passenger and drivers side will help out with sound. I haven't got round to making my drivers side sub box, but I've been in one many moons ago owned by my brother with £7k worth of ice in speakers, 2 amplifiers and 2 12" jl audio subs and the sound and quality was immense.
Re: Speaker upgrade
I have to have my seat all the way back so no space behind the seats. I did have a Alpine SWD-1600 under the drivers seat but now have the SWE-1000 in the passenger footwell. Sounds good enough, after all its only there to create low end not mega bass.
Re: Speaker upgrade
I have an Alpine SWD-1600 under the drivers seat with Alpine sxe-1025s 4" speakers in the front and sxe-0825s 3.5" speakers in the rear. They are a direct fit and sound just fine. They do sound very tweeter like though if you switch off the active sub(SWD-1600)

Re: Speaker upgrade
Having had other cars with subwoofers, I'd say it's definitely the way to go and some of the underseat units though not particularly cheap really can produce some amazing bass. Well worth it IMO.

Pioneer TS-H103's, cost around £30 when new. Much better then the paper cone oem speakers.
