Leaky Tbar

Post by mk1bexwa »

Hi Everyone,

I need some new Tbar seals as mine are leaking. Does anyone know where new ones can be bought from?

Thanks in advance,
Beckie

Thanks Peter

After looking at the seals they have started to perish and it doesn't help that the tbar structure is full of filler :(

The U-shaped seals were still available from Mr T when I enquired a year or so ago Beckie

The seals on the outer edges of the glass panels were also available BUT

They come bonded to the glass panel which costs over £100 for each one IIRC

Do you know how I could get in contact with him?

So what parts will I need? How much will it cost at a guess?

Is it the U-shaped rubber seals under the panels that are perished Beckie :?:

Or the ones on the edges of the panels (mine perished at the ends)

I'm not sure if I'm honest my other half has said they are. All I know is that the leak like a sieve both sides where the black cover on the car connects to the tbar. It leaks through the join.

The black strip in the middle that the edge of each glass panel fits under :?:

Ahaaa :!: If its that its probably because the fastenings of the black thing have broken

If you look at the last few posts of the thread I pointed to above, Greg Lebon explains a method of curing the problem :thumleft:

Ahhh a picture's worth a thousand words Beckie :)

Here's another one :

The underneath of my T-bar panel end

Now this one :

Second pic shows what's known as the cling film fix

Comparing the two pics you can see where someone has put silicone sealant on the panel

Then put cling film over the sealant

Do both ends of the panel, then refit it as normal & leave for the sealant to cure

Worth a try it will be massively cheaper than buying new glass panels a well over £100 each

Just becasue its dripping from there, doesn't mean its leaking from there

The rest of the seal to the tbar maybe good so it runs down the channel to that point. If you silicone that section the water will exit from somewhere else, maybe inside the car. Make sure the drainage channels are free first.
