looks like a rev1 to me :-k

1992 registered = Rev 2.
Rev 2 colour.
Rev 2 front splitter.
Rev 2 steering wheel.

What makes you think it's a Rev 1?

UK spec GT and T-Bar side strips were always painted.

My old Rev 2 G-Limited's side stripes were also unpainted or at least not colour coded:

pics are not that clear but it was mainly the side strip as i was under the impression rev2 had a tint of body colour but it seems that isnt the case on all rev2's from subsequent pics that have been posted
also, maybe my eyes are deceiving me in my old age but that gear knob looks taller than mine, as per the rev1, quite possible i'm just going a bit cenile though

The wheels are obviously aftermarket, as is probably the gearstick knob, but the rest looks like an honest enough Rev 2 FE.

Don't know about UK cars but rev1 Jap cars had taller gear sticks, rev2 was a bit shorter and rev3+ shorter still...

All Rev 1 cars fitted with a manual 'box, regardless where they were sold, had the longer joystick shaped gear stick.

FWIW, my first MR2 back in '96 was a UK Coupe with the 3S-FE engine.

Later I test drove a Rev3 UK NA and around town there was nothing to really separate them - the two litre engines both develop the same amount of torque across most of the rev band that you'd normally use.

The difference I found was the higher redline, which meant it would pull longer in lower gears helping the 0-60 sprint and possibly if you were doing a cross country blast using all the revs - but it didn't 'feel' faster.

I soon after drove a Jap imported turbo - and as they say, the rest is history ...

My first MR2 was unfortunately a 3SFE, at the time I didn't realise, otherwise would have steered clear.

I found the engine to be lethargic and slow. I mean, 9.3 secs to 60! :o

Once I knew of the turbo model, I had the 3SFE ripped out, and had a 3SGTE engine installed, and holy crap what a difference! That was ages ago now, like 2004!

0-60 times don't mean much when it comes to normal everyday driving.

I had a 3S-FE a few years ago and found it perfectly adequate for daily duties. It was quite frugal too!

You guys have to stop NA bashing, it's starting to get a little boring.

I'm not NA bashing :?

I'm talking of my experience of the 3SFE, I think the 3SGE engine is fine, and perfectly adequate.
