Brake line 'drip stopping'

Post by Baker »

I'm soon to be caliper-less on the rear for a week or two.
What's the best way to plug up the lines to stop it dropping dry?
Would the finger of a glove cable tied on stop it?
Thanks.

You can actually buy specifically designed pliers for clamping the brake lines.. I have a tool I made myself which is esentially two metal rods (think about 8mm diameter) with two bolts/nuts at each end through some holes I drilled in the rod. Works just as well and being rods they don't nip or damage the brake lines.

Thanks. I'll have a look at the clamps.

These are what I use:

These will fit all applications. Male (length of hose with bolt) and female (squashed pipe prevents any leaks). The ones on the bottom and right will work on the caliper banjo fittings. The little notches on the washers provide something to grip onto as the brake fluid makes them very slippy!
