What engine do I have?

I am in need of some help from some more knowledgeable members here.

I have a 1989 Rev1 MK2 MR2 fitted with a 3SGE. It was mentioned to me when i bought the bike that the engine was replaced at some point but he could not find where he put the bill for this so could not prove it.

Anyway 3 years after buying the car i was looking through a service folder and found a folded up sheet of paper which had fallen into the folders cover, I took it out, unfolded it and it seems to be a bill from when the engine was replaced.

Now the form seems to state that the engine was replaced with a 1995 engine but there seems to be no sort of proof from where it was taken or what was done with it.

Can anyone tell me how i can find out if my engine is actually from a 1995 model car?

Are there any give away signs or even engine codes i could look at?

Any help would be lovely!

Rev 1/2 and rev 3 engines look totally different mate.

Visually it would appear that I have a Rev1/2 engine.

Seems strange that I have a bill for the fitting of a 1995 65K engine though!

Engine could have been out of an imported rev 1/2 MR2, that the DVLA messed up and put on an M plate etc, they've taken the engine out, seen the "M" reg and put "removed from 1995 MR2".

I guess that would make sense! I will have to check the engine numbers! Could be the same engine it was produced with for all and a bill for another car (there is no reg number on the bill or owners name)
