MK2 - Wing Mirror Glass replacement.

Post by RobPhoboS »

I need to replace the glass in the drivers side wing mirror housing, and I just wondered where I can buy one ?
I've had a search for how to remove it so I should be ok in that sense, although will a new one have the correct fittings ?

This is for an imported car with the electric folding mirrors (if that makes a difference?).

Many thanks for any help.

(I'll try halfrauds tomorrow but not sure if they'll have any)

The glass is the same fitment across all models and revisions except for the UK rev4+ which has heated glass (which could still be fitted to your car - but the heated bit just wouldn't work).

Not sure of cost for the non-heated type, but the heated ones are £25 new from Toyota.

I think your best bet would be Ebay. And if no one is selling the glass on it's own then think about getting a whole mirror unit. Obviously you'll need to get the correct side (passenger/driver).

*edit, there's some here:

Although I think they're the stick on types.

Here's a full mirror for £14 delivered:

And here's a photo to show how they're attached to the mirror unit...
"To remove the mirror glass pull outwards from the bottom of the mirror. The photo below shows the clips at the bottom of the glass in green, and the hooks at the top in purple."

I just got a second hand one for mine, worked fine. Just check if your import has the bronze tint. The euro ones ate blue/green I think. Better to have them match...
