Black Rev3 NA - Milton Keynes

Post by Tsia »

Hi guys, I'll post up pics when I've got my post count high enough...
Anyway, bought my Rev3 NA from a guy who thought it was beyond repair, for £300. I've spent £370 bringing it back into a working mechanical state so far and it's running beautifully.
The car started off with a cracked, split and otherwise horrible condition mismatched in colour Bomex bumper, with nothing else. I've since got myself a complete Border replica kit with a new wing for the back. It's due a complete respray once the kit is completely on and when I've settled on a colour.
The wheels started off life on the car as a set of standard 'bad boy' wheels with mistmached tyres, although that's changing when my new Rota D1s arrive for it, which are also going to be sprayed a more appropriate colour than gold. I'd also like to kindly thank the previous owner for removing every 'non essential' screw from the car, giving me the comedy "Why has my glovebox just come out?" moments. :D

Anyway, this is my little space reserved for pictures etc! Should be fun :)

Right, 15 posts done! Here's a few pictures of how it started and a few bits that've happened thus far...

Image
How it started life, looking pretty manky...
Image
After tearing off the front bumper
Image
And the de-spoilering and removal of rear lights. Had to drill out one of the bolts for the right hand light, hence still being there in this picture. Messy beneath those old spoilers!
Image
Test fit of the new bumper
Image
Fitting the (originally badly fitting) rear spats
Image
And finally, the spats in primer & placed carefully on the back of the car.

More to come! :D

Half the bolts in the glovebox, the storage compartment and even the sun visors. Makes me wonder what people do when they take stuff apart

Haha, no ashtray either here! They had also begun to wire an amp in in the most ar$e-about-face fashion possible. It's all gone now though. I've just got to find something to put in the ashtray bit, maybe a Jelly Belly air freshener or something

Nope, I'm sticking a pretty looking GT wing on there after seeing a few Border kitted MR2s with them. Nothing too elaborate, it just suits the car nicely. Mine came with 215/215/215/205 as the tyre sizes, so I feel your pain there :P

Here's a picture with the spoiler quite literally taped onto the back of the car.

Got to the bodyshop today to find a little present waiting for me there, courtesy of Rare Rims. Now I'm in two minds about changing their colour. I quite like the gold...

Leave the wheels gold:

This is a lovely example

Why Milton Keynes for bodyshop work?
If you can travel to Dunstable I can recommend AutoProfile who are on the A5 so one road all the way down to them.
Excellent service/prices and quality of work.
I've used them a few times. 8)

I'm using AD Panelcraft for it as I've seen plenty of the stuff that the guys have done and I've been really, really impressed with their attention to detail. I couldn't ask for better customer service and I can't even begin to complain about the prices.

Anyhow, onto the colour of the wheels : I've decided I want to have my respray done in blue. I was going to stay black, but I thought I may as well choose a different colour if I'm paying for a full respray. I found a picture of a car with the Border kit in the colour I want with the exact same wheels right here :

Love at first sight. (Only it needs the wing to match mine. 8) )

I very nearly went for Cosmos blue until the guys at the bodyshop let me sit and have a browse through their swatches. I saw that blue colour in the Toyota swatches and just had to have it :D

Awesome looking car! Thanks for that, I'll see about getting some tyres sorted in that sort of width now. I was worried 235/245 would be too wide, but I guess not :D
