F-ck em. They sound like the people that wave at me for doing 25 in a 30 and assume I'm speeding because my car is loud
Re: bungs for a PP departure 2 PRO exhaust??

As Marf says, f-ck em. As long as you're not giving it loud between 11pm and 7am there's nothing they can do afaik.
Re: bungs for a PP departure 2 PRO exhaust??
all true.
tho times where i might want to or need to use it late and early hours are my concern also.
this car starting up in a garage is like a 20ft sub vibrating, lol. id imagine it is pretty loud.

I don't think the exhaust tips are perfetly round, so it may be a little difficult finding one that fits......or you may get lucky and get a pair off eBay that bolt straight in

Yeah, that's always going to be a problem. I've the same problem with mine. Start the car in the garage and it vibrates next door's windows Luckily for me they are pretty tolerant about it and appreciate it's hard to creep about like a mouse and not make any noise. Not sure what you can do about your situation other than to leave the car on the drive/outside your house if you come back late rather than putting it in the garage (which is what I do) or try and find some bungs that will fit. Maybe you could make your own bungs that you could fit just for when you start up or when bringing it home. Like fit the bungs when you start up, get it a few hundred yards down the road and take them out and vice versa when coming home. Not ideal but might do as a quick fix if it's that much of a problem.
I'm sure you've seen all the noisy neighbour threads on here in the past and how hard it is for people on the receiving end to actually get anything done about it so in your position I can't imagine you'd get any grief about it from a law point of view. Guess it depends on how much you value good relations with your neighbours.
It's also a case of swings and roundabouts. I bet you don't go b1tching to your neighbours when they are mowing their lawns or doing normal stuff that creates a noise. Maybe you should point out that to them
Re: bungs for a PP departure 2 PRO exhaust??
am new to area and just bought my first place, so would be nice not to annoy anyone just yet, lol
next door are fine, he drives a modifed ford probe as it happens that quite loud, but he doesnt use it (SORN), only starts it every other weekend.
if i could get something cheap just to pop in the pipes that would be ideal.
it would only be a "take them off down the road" situation as bungs do restrict flow pretty badly. but i dont particular want to have to drill a fixing hole in my tail pipes tho!
something just to clamp on there would be good.

Re: bungs for a PP departure 2 PRO exhaust??
all it needs to be is a reducer right.

Why dont you push the car out of the garage then start it? Ive got a dep2 pro and it isnt that loud, but in the garage I could imagine it being loud

yup, I always pull my car out usually so the back end hangs out then start it up
Re: bungs for a PP departure 2 PRO exhaust??
Not sure if it's cause I got a SS exhaust manifold as well that makes it louder. Or having cams
As certainly louder than my old nur spec'd car and other mr2s I've been with at meets etc etc.
Bean can, I guess I could think of something to get it to work.

Re: bungs for a PP departure 2 PRO exhaust??
Don't bungs create back pressure on the turbo though?
Would be a mare having to fit bungs, take em out then fit em again lol

Re: bungs for a PP departure 2 PRO exhaust??
Bean cans in with a small G clamp holding them in till you get down the road?
Nose your car in and push it out to start it?
Fit egg boxes in your garage to reduce the echo?

Lol@ stevie. Perhaps it's the manifold, the noise dies resonate more than with cast and mild steel, my dep2 was quieter with my cast downpipe than with the tb. Dev stainless one
