Car came back from the body shop today. The engine bay is finally finished \:D/

Pretty much just a case of putting everything back together now. The end is in sight :D

Time for an update.

They say the devil is in the detail and that is certainly true. It's the little touches and attention to detail that are the most time consuming and labour intensive part of the whole job! I'm so glad it's not me doing it

Unfortunately we couldn't get it ready in time for JAE but work is progressing and the finishing line is in sight :)

All credit to Luke, he's done an awesome job so far. The level of detail and innovative ideas that have gone into this are impressive to say the least :D

Fidanza flywheel and Exedy stage 1 clutch go on.

Gearbox and engine mounts get a makeover.

Feed for remote stock and aftermarket oil pressure sensors. Can kiss goodbye to the sandwich plate :) Sump will be tapped for the oil temperature sensor.

Stock IC fan upgraded to Spal goodness. As modelled by Luke's lovely assistant Nick

Even the fan wire is tucked :)

Engine and box ready to go back in.

Lots still happening this week, more to come soon 8)

Was up at Lukes today cleaning up some bits from my dismantled engine in prep for paint and had a look over your engine fella... looks beautiful, real work of art.

Cheers Rob, that's good to hear :thumleft: I haven't been to Luke's for a while and have only seen a few phone pictures he's been teasing me with  I'm looking forward to seeing the real thing as I'm sure the pictures don't do it any justice at all :)

Is that an anti-lag exhaust manifold I spy there?

Not anti-lag. Those plugs on the top are for EGT probes :thumleft: The manifold was heavily modified to get it to line up with the CC core which might make it a little more free flowing though.

I'm sure you intended that as a compliment

Yes, some serious effort going into this project. I definitely under estimated the amount of work involved! Now it's all starting to go together there are so many niggly little things coming to light that need to be fixed. Shortcuts is definitely not a word that features in Luke's vocabulary!

To take on a project of this size and accomplish so much in a short space of time is a pretty major achievement given how busy Luke always is with other customers cars. Mighty effort

Engine went in for a test fit at the end of last week. Discovered the turbo sits too close to the firewall for the stock heat shield to go back in so a custom heat shield is having to be made. Visited over the weekend and what can I say apart from  Pictures don't do it any justice at all. It's looking even better than I hoped for :D

Cheers mate :thumleft: I know Luke has put some mighty effort into this job. Given the size of the project it was never going to be cheap and I knew this going in but to me it's money well spent.

The new heatshield has been made and the turbo fits with it in place. It's still in Tesco form but the Kingsmill version is on its way  I'm told it's going to get a pretty sick touch but I've no idea what that will be....

haha and i thought my built was shiny.
nice work.
can i ask you where you got the oilpressure adapter for the head + the extension from?
i have one bought on ebay - but its a straight one and it points a bit to close to my waterneck..nothing bad - but not perefect.

i aslo asked myself where you had the parts polished.i did most of my parts myself (tutorial section are some images) because i have to walk 1000 miles in germany to find a guy doing it good.
