Mr2 3sgte rev1 to rev 3 conversion info needed.

Post by neoeire »

Hi all. Been a while since I been on here. Doing load of work to my tubby.

Restored her internals like bushes and metal work so she's like new underneath. Also 40 grooved disks and yellow stuff all round with hel brake lines. Plasma gauges and bomex skirts and spats.
Plus a lot of little things like the headlight mod to flash ppl and the gizmo ms2 boost controller etc...

Now as i need to change the cam belt I'm going to do some work to the engine while it's out like hard pipes, intercooler etc.

I already picked up a rev3 turbo ecu from the scrappy for £50(great deal. Guy didn't have a clue lol)
And I lost the parts list I needed for the rev3 conversion on my rev1 turbo.
And I'm dieing to stick on the my hks ssqv without the overfueling issues.
I know lots of ppl don't like the whistle but I love it :)

---What was the other bits and part numbers I will need??????

I do plan on sticking a motec m4 at some point in the future so I don't really want to bother with the FC thing. Just doing what I need for the rev3 for now as I'm also cleaning up the engine bay(pipes and colour coding) and don't want to get swamped with stuff.

I'll update my profile pics after I sort it out for all ur opinions.

I know I need the...
igniter part no?, and
MAP sensor part no?
And I think 540cc injectors but leaving that one til I change turbos...

Can't remember the rest?

Incase any1 gets the wring idea, I'm not doing this now. Prob in the summer 2012 but there's a good few parts to get like rev 3 cams and new exhaust system so I'm buying all the parts a bit at a time so when I have everything I need, then the car goes up and the engine and whole drivetrain comes out.

My tubby is a long term project of mine since it's the cheapest car I have ever owned lol. Even the mpg is better than most of my past wheels lol

Loving my tub :D

Go for the rev 3 head complete and both manifolds and throttlebody,
you wont be sorry.(instead of just the cams you mention)
Retain the rev 2 metal backing plate for the cams, just in case you want to fit a clear perspex cam gear cover.
To save yourself a lot of hassle go for the passenger footwell to engine bay rev 3 loom, and the engine rev 3 loom.

If you only want the cams as you say, then your still looking at a new headgasket, coolant, and on the safe side a cam belt and tensioner kit,
plus sundry other gaskets thats the best part of £350

Thanks for the advice. But she's a rev 1 if it makes a difference.
She's due a new cam belt anyway and I picked up the lot from fensport site a while ago. so have to do all that anyway.
But I will look into all that if the improvements are worth it?
Was planing on an engine rebuild when I have space in the garage.

Been luck so far for all the parts I got so far for low prices and even free for some like the cams.

all advice is welcome
