[Mk2] [Generic] Boot wont stay open!!

Hi Guys

Bit of advice please. Just went to open the boot and although it opens it doesnt 'rise up' like it is supposed to?

Still looks like its tight shut but will open so the latch / lock is ok. Its the standard spoiler so no weight issues and the hinge looks good as new. Really weighs a ton (almost too heavy for g/f to open) and as soon as you release it would slam shut if i let it.

Is there some sort of spring in the boot to hold it open, or has the hinge had it?

Any advice appreciated before i take the thing apart. It a Rev 3 by the way.

Its dead easy Rob,mine had to be replaced,got one from here about £10-£15.

I'll try and get one at the weekend, just been out having a look at it. It looks in really good nick but the end of the spring seems to have 'broken free' from the hinge. Looks like it will come off quite easily.
