i have phoned around for engines few breakersi n glasgows offering me engines for £200-300

i have also been offered a engine which has a blown head gasket.. which has been offered at £60 but its in leeds so im not sure if i want to rebuild that... unless its cost effective.

So i think local £200 engine it could be. gonna try and go and see a few on the weekend.

Are theyre any tutorials on engine drops? ill be doing it myself.

I'd see this as a perfect opportunity to drop a turbo engine in there! Silver lining and all that, gotta be optimistic and make the best of a bad scenario.

Best of luck with it mate! :thumleft:

the motor trades in free fall as long as your tactfull & dont come across like a cocky azzehole you could tell them that £150 is honestly all you have & in these times making a bit is better than making nothing its worth a try

+1

I'd expect to pay absolutely no more than £150 for a rev2 NA, and I'd class that as expensive- I'd expect to hear it running first, and I'd want both manifolds and the throttle at that price.

You'd get away with a bare engine and swap all your ancilliaries across- so aim to pay £100 tops...

Shame it's an earlier engine, I've got a complete rev3 lump sat in my garage you could have for a decent price...but not sure it'd be worth your effort doing the conversion, if you're going down that route you might as well slap a rev3+ turbo clip in there

£150 for an engine? Thats a result!

I bought my mk1 engine for £500 with no ancilleries.

I've had 3 mk2 rev3 NA lumps now: £80, £100 & £120

Guess the mk1 lumps are more expensive or I've been really lucky on prices.

I'd pay £150 for a guaranteed lump, but as I've learnt- there ain't no such thing when it comes to second hand engines, I'd always rebuild as a matter of course now just to be safe :eye:

donor car bought really happy with it! heard it running bought for cheap so i should clear my costs and make some back when selling bits... its a black rev1 most parts there apart from few lil bits but nothing to stop me swapping the engine out!!
