well happy weekend all!
Firstly this is my first post, and i though i would sign up for IMOC as i am leaving to pick up my first mk1 in a few hours, and im mega excited! this is one of the few cars i remember from my childhood but a car i have always wanted to own/drive! My best mate says we shall go out and take some photos later this weekend, just a few questions for when i go pick it up.
The car comes with no documents only the V5 (im not fussed as i plan to do a full rebuild and strip down of everything anyway) but what tyre pressures would you advise for a mk1 b completely standard, as there is no owners manual i cant read what toyota recoment either.
Also what oil would you guys recoment aswell?
many thanks
Alex

if you have a container I can let you have some silkolene at a decent price, I have enough here to sink a battleship
Re: PK_090'S Build/bodge and restore thread!
might have to take you up on that offer!
ive also got to pester said photography mate who is a designer at polybush, to make a kit for the mk1. ive told him he has open access to mine when its off the road undergoing restoration. He tells me there isnt a kit for the mk1's so if i can gather enough interest then maybe we can get a group buy going.

You can get polybush kits for MK1's they've been available for years. I fitted one about ten years ago!

is that the powerflex kit though? he told me Polybush themselves dont have a kit for the mk1's, he could just be tricking me!
Re: PK_090'S Build/bodge and restore thread!
Never heard of a company called Polybush. They're called poly bushes because they're bushes, made from polyurethane (abbreviated to 'poly', hence 'poly bushes')
There are numerous companies who make them, ('Powerflex' being one of the better known, more reputable companies, 'Polybush' presumably being one that hardly anyone has heard of) at least 2 or 3 of which make kits for the mk1.

IIRC (it was a while ago) Castrol 75-90. Tis a pretty standard gear oil really.

oh and another couple of things, are the header tank caps genuine only or avalible though factors etc?
and ive been given a HKS mushroom filter and i want to keep the filter in the baguette compartment at the rear. Only one problem circular filter yet square plastic pipe from the bulkhead backwards is there a piece of silicone hosing that will go from t'body to the rear or will i have to do 2 pieces with a metal tube bend in it?

Re: PK_090'S Build/bodge and restore thread!
Just take the old intake piping off and put a straight piece of silicone hose where the round induction pipe comes into the boot space.

Looks good, not a particularly effective air filter. Am sure you could get replacement foam inserts.
