[Mk2] [Turbo] Which discs do you recommend?
Was thinking of getting grooved, vented and drilled discs, but wasnt sure if having all of them would reduce the structural integrity of discs and make them more likely to crack or something?

Unless you just want the look and noise,
Stick with plain disks (Very cheap through Ebay these days)
and a good brand of pad.
Avoid the no-name pads as they will be of poor performance and longevity

OEM ones. I used noname ones (from Camskill I think so probably blueprint) and they developed a massive lip around the INSIDE of the disc. This meant the pads looked great when you checked them for wear from the hole in the top of the caliper but inside had no friction surface at all.
There's a discount on OEM brake parts direct from Toyota in the Premium Member Discounts forum.

Interestingly.... the first non-OEM disks I bought were 'EBC' and one set of disks came with the Toyota part number stamped into them.
I think there are plenty of no-name manufacturers now just turning down disks from generic blanks.
But considering the price difference, you could replace the disks every other set of pads.
Who's to say the current Toyota OEMs for such an obsolete car are actually of the 'old' quality?

Me. I just bought a set They are now even coating the edges and centre of the disc to stop them rusting!
I have a very suspect view of brake parts from EBC and the like after having to return 3 pairs of discs for a previous car of mine because of manufacturing errors.

So basically your saying Toyota OEM ones will be better than any aftermarket pads and discs?

I was specifically talking about discs. I have no comment on pads as I've only ever used Toyota ones, so I've nothing to compare against.

Ok cool, so at least the discs are better then?
What are carbotechs and how do they compare to OEM?
And how do they all compare to these?

i bought the camskill ones a while back that had on offer for full set of discs/pads

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Which discs do you recommend?
I recently bought new discs and pads all round from CRN, I paid £25 extra to have a zinc coating put on the discs to prevent rusting on unswept areas, total was £200 but this included EBC ultimax pads which are a very basic pad. Ive had std Toyota, greenstuff (EBC) and Pagid, but by far the best were the Carbotechs Panther Plus, but at over £300 a set they ought to be! Bite was fantastic even from cold, but they were fantastic under very hard road use whereas the other pads just faded like a red MR2 in the sun 24/7
