AVCR not working - well properly anyway - any ideas?

Post by pnicho »

Until recently my 2 had been off the road for a while and I've just got back from Le Mans and it's running sweet, the only problem being that the AVCR isn't working properly. I've got 2 settings, 0.8 and 1.2 and no matter what it's set on it only goes to 0.9 max and 0.84 min. I'm assuming that this is what the turbos actuator is set at but I don't know.

Can people tell me where to start looking to work out what's going on with the AVCR? Is it worth me writing down all the details resetting it and starting from scratch or will a valve be stuck or something?

Thanks in advance.

if it was pump in correctly before, then it should work ok

summer and winter is different, so if you set these in winter may need to readjust the setting

do you still hear it click when on boost,

also i remember it have 3 setting, A B and off, make sure you are running the setting

Yeah it was running fine when the car came off the road.

I don't remember ever hearing a click before.

I've tried A (0.8 bar) and B (1.2 bar) and it's making no difference.

Also as these self learn then why will things be different between summer and winter?

it is rapid clicking, when it is controlling boost (but depend where you mounted it)

self learning dont usually work (it usually overboost)

Mine never overboosted - I had it set to 1.2 bar and it never went above it (never hit fuel cut either).

It's in the engine bay I think so I def can't hear if it's working.

Any ways I can identify it and check it?

Yeah that's there, I can't hear it click as it's in the engine bay, it's attached to my air filter, I might take it off and have a looksee.
