[Mk2] [NA] Exhaust compatibility between na revs, and between na and turbo?

Post by brgbrm »

Are revs 1-3 of the UK na exhaust all the same?

Are na exhausts the same as turbo ones, or are they quite different?

Thanks Jason.

Does anyone know about the different na revs? Also, I think I will need from the flexi back, when I'm looking to buy the components, is that what's known as a catback exhaust system?

Between rev1-2/3,4,5 there will be a different manifold where it joines the flexi part for the NA versions. Turbo is entirely different as cat is bolted straight to the turbo but the same across turbo revisions.

Catback will be from the cat converter, so backbox only on the NA, flexi + backbox on turbo (as the cat is right after the turbo).
Current: 2007 Porsche Cayman S
Gone: '94 rev3 NA, '92 rev2 Turbo forged, '07 Civic Type-R

Thanks Jan. I'm just looking at the bgb for 'Exhaust pipes and heat insulators', is the na cat the thing with a heat insulator, near the backbox? I think the exhaust place said that I will want everything from what I think (it's horizontal) is the flexi back, but presumably that wouldn't include the cat?

I can't seem to search imoc on 'exhaust', what are the options for a new exhaust, that I won't have noise test problems with? It's a UK na.
