hi all
unfortuneatly my car kind broke on me ](*,) the timing belt tensioner packed in and the belt started 2 wrap around the crank pulley can some1 confirm if these are or arent (please!) an interferance engine? coz i went on google 2 find out but there were different opinions and couldnt find out? :evil:

Non-interference, put a bel5t on it and see if alls o.k. :thumleft:

my boss is letting me use the garage nxt wkend i have a rev3 metal head gasket and new bolts but dont wanna pull the head off and find out the valves are bent coz the car has a 2 be gone by mon and its getting my hand on another head. its also the case of dropping the engine putting a belt on it and refitting 2 find out she needs 2 be dropped again

i do appologise if iv confused u kinda confused myself #-o

You dont need to drop the engine out to put a timing belt on.

Put the belt on and then turn it over by hand, if all is o.k start it up and do a compression check. :thumleft:

Easier than taking the engine out.

Easy to do the belt in situ. Don't take the head off until you get the belt back on and see if all is well. One step at a time and all that.

I've had two cambelts snap in MR2s while I've been driving them. One was a rev 2 turbo, the other a rev3 n/a race car. In both instances the belt was changed and the engines totally undamaged.

As a general rule of thumb Toyota fit belts to non interference engines, and chains to interference versions.
