I've been chatting with a mate, and we're both trackday virgins
Both of us are really wanting to get into it next year though, so we're looking at doing a beginners day somewhere. Does anyone know of somewhere that offers this at a reasonable price, preferably in the midlands/south.
I've got a pretty track friendly exhaust on, but was planning on fitting my turbo kit soon (GT2860rs) , with external wastegate & screamer on it, would that be too loud for track?
Cheers
Stevie

Probably Silverstone National. Flat, easy and loads of run-of.
Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?
Cool, cheers
What's the noise limit there like? So I know if I need to get a new DP & screamer made up.

neither south or midland's but Anglesea (sp) is good for run of and its not to agressive on tire's like an airfield is.

Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?
Im not too far from Llandow, might get on there?
Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?
Llandow is very easy, I popped my trackday cherry there. Dont think there were any noise restrictions either. I like the sound of silverstone though
Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?
Fancy a blast at Llandow next year then mate? I'm away till April though, so would need to be after then.
Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?
Llandow is great for beginners. Within 2 laps you'll know the track in your head. And is generally quite cheap. On the times i've been i've also never seen a noise tester.

Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?
I'm not a big fan of Llandow - I know it's not hugely shorter than the likes of Mallory or Brands Hatch Indy, but they're both quite technical circuits with interesting gradient changes. Llandow is flat and featureless... and dull...

That's the key. Start off slow and build up as you get to grips with your car, the circuit and the conditions. Even after six years of racing I like to take the time to find my feet again before giving it death!

Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?
My first outing onto the track was donington in a single seater, won't call it a track day as it was an experience day. First (and only to date) track day in the 2 was at Mallory. Very simple to get to grips with, had fun too. Only did a morning session so was pretty cheap too.
Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?
i too have done donnington on my first trackday. as said take your time and build up slowly and youll be fine

That you Rowland? Did you turn in a bit sharp resulting in oversteer? rumbling over the kerb with your front left wheel wouldnt have caused that would it?

Castle Combe?
It's mostly just right turns. Although it's relatively high speed.

Re: Trackday - Best beginners track?
the best way I found was to join a trackday specific club aswell as the owners clubs,
i'm a member on www.built4track.co.uk really friendly bunch of people and have alot of experience.
we have a day at llandow booked in febuary and there's five spaces going spare if you and your mate are interested. I've done it before and it's surprising how good the circuit is.
