My Rev 2 GT-S project update 11-5-11 racing harts on

Post by silentstu »

After owning a rev 2 uk gt-i16 i always wanted to get back into a Mr2 and said id only go back if i got a turbo one, I got a 2002 astra in the auctions cheap and didnt really like it and found someone with this mr2 and done a swap :D . So nice to be back in a mr2 deffo missed it and the turbo is so much better than the na. Anyway heres some pics:

Day i got it home

Car was imported in 2003 and heres the spec from the ad

2.0L Twin Entry Turbo
TRD Tuned;oversized cams, bearings ect.
Balanced Lightened Flywheel
Organic Sports Clutch
Dump Valve
Spitfire Boost Guage
Sporting Steering Wheel
Momo Gear Knob
Blitz 16" split rims(req refurb)
Raceland Bucket Seats
3 Point Harnesses
7800KM
Original MR2 Mats
Tax till march 2011
MOT till October 2010

No proff of the engine mods which was a shame but the car seems strong even tho im only running standard boost at the mo. And the milage isnt what was stated.

So first thing first i got some import front lights

Image

Image

as i like the JDM look on these cars

then i got rid of the metal work infront of the exhaust

Image

Image

then i changed the steering wheels as it wasnt to my taste

Image

Next job was seats as i didnt like them or fit in them very well

so i found a set of mint full leathers from a R reg mr2 at the breakers and got a mint ashtray too for a whole £100 bargin :yahoo:

Image

Image

Changed my rear fog switch next as it had a massive orange one so done this as its a bit more descrete

Image

Carbon vinal around gear surround

Image

TRD key

Image

Then i attacked the tired rear lights with autosol

Image

I have a new set of 13 x 6" number plates on the car no pics of the rear but you can kind of see the front one here look alto better

Image

Next lot of plans are:

Refurb the wheels (if im brave enough to split them)
Change the decat as its cracked/split just have another cheap one for now to get thru MOT
Change passenger side repeater (right pain in the rear to find)
Just orderd a set of import 180kph clocks from gtichris
Sort out a couple of issues under the bonnet out
New front bumper
Relocate the Boost gauge to the pillar and try cover up the whole it will leave :crybaby:
Remove dump valve - DONE!

Was thinking with the wheels to do black centres and white rims, But should i risk taking them apart and if a bolt snaps or somthing will i find one, they are Blitz 2 piece wheels anyone split a set of blitz wheels before?

So whats everyone think so far my plan is to just keep it standard ish and keep tidying it and enjoying it.

Update 30-07-2010

New 13" x 6" plates fitted

Image

Image

Image

New Clocks not quiet the ones i wanted but looks better than before wanted the plain 180 kp/h ones so need to get a converter now as these a mph

Image

Image

Better pic of my carbon vinal (need a std gear knob and to sort the gaiter out)

Just keep it standard-ish.
Money spent, is money thrown away.

You could loose the snorkel

And regarding those bolts... there is a site you can order all kinda screws and stuff for split rims. So you should be oke.

For the rest, nice looking car :thumleft:

Done some of them small jobs around the car:

Plastic boot trim from a breaker for free with some other parts (stereo surround ect) as mine was missing

Image

Bonnet Stay as mine was also missing!?!?

Image

And new hard pipe - IC pipe as mine had a DV t-piece in it -- Thanks foxy-stoat

Image

Also have fitted a horn button to my steering wheel (non functional)
And fitted a funtional horn button i made in one of the blanks next to the fogs as the hub wasnt connecting so had no hron at all.

And replaced the stereo surround as the prievous owner had drilled a hole in it for the boost gauge vac pipe and wires. Next jobs are get rid of the boost gauge and get a new one and an A pillar pod and i have a smooth rear light panel comming i will wrap in carbon...

Nice car, like the mods you have done little sutible ones like the key and the rear centre panel.

Did you sell the old bucket seats with the harness's or you still have them?
