[Mk2] [NA] rev 1 gear box to rev 3 what do i need?

hiya, my 5th gear on my rev1 n/a has almost gone, so insted of refurbing the box, after talking to some people have decided to change it for a rev3 box as am told is a stroger box.
Has anyone else done this an can offer any advice? and what else i need to change, ie, driveshafts, linkage cables, mounts????
i belive that the box is a rev3 n/a, not a turbo!

you will need to change the gearbox mount, apart from that its a straight swop

The biggest issue is that rev1's are a cable driven speedo and rev2+ are electric so you're going to have to sort that out.

I don't know how though but I suspect others have done it!

I've fitted a rev4 box to my rev1. Both boxes were for tubbies though so I don't know if it's exactly the same for na?

All I really had to change were the driveshafts. The new box had an lsd and needed different shafts but other than that it was pretty straight forward. I think the speedo drive carries across so you just need to fit your existing rev1 part into the rev3 gearbox housing.
