[Mk2] [Turbo] HKS 264 cam specs - How to set them

I have a set of HKS 264 high lift cams for my Rev 3 tubby. As i bought these 2nd hand and a spec sheet didnt come with it.

Is there a spec sheet that i can follow that i can use with a dial vernier and degree gauge off the crank as per the HKS spec sheets?

103BTDC exhaust
110ATDC inlet

Just saw 'high lift' - those are normal, not sure if theyre the same.

Hi mate. Here you go:111deg ATDC intake, and 116 deg BTDC exhaust.

Those are the cams I have and they're set to 103/110.
I've got the spec sheet somewhere in the garage. It's all in japanese but the numbers are still there to see.

i believe thats for the 272 High lift cams

HKS 264's and 272 high lift cams have the same lobe centre settings.

Does everyone on here take the numbers on the cam gears as gospel? I was reading that small variations in the engine/cams can make the gears inaccurate, and that you should use a degree wheel and stuff.

You should always degree them properly. Only an idiot wouldn't!

You'll also be surprised at how far out the stock timing marks on the covers are. Mine were 5 degrees out when I checked them properly with a piston stop and a degree wheel.

but how could toyota get the crank pulley wrong?
how comes some peoples pulley line up bang on, and others not?

unless there ALL wrong, i dont see how some can be wrong and others right, surely they all use the correct and same pulley?

that small marker is surely made in the same place on the pulley as every other. its not hand done is it? for there to be differences?

It's the marks on the timing covers that are the issue Jim, the covers can be bolted on in slightly the wrong orientation, and so you line the pulley up to the wrong place

Arh ok, so the lower timing belt cover on slightly angled.

Surely this can't be out much tho, 1-3mm at best, its held in by a load of bolts so can hardly be that out much if at all. 1 degree at worst?
Tho I guess additionally all depends how you angle your head on the marker and pulley when timing it up to!!! You can easily go 5degrees wrong just by putting you head and eyes in the wrong spot when doing ignition timing for example.

Tho for sure degree wheel is the way to go for accurate results.

Guess you can remark the cover if you wanted once your happy with the covers bolted position.

So nout wrong with the pulley and oem markers then, there always 100%, its just the cover that can throw you off. Gotcha.
