it blocks piracy but its only a few hex edits away and your sorted... wont be long before everyones got them lol

doubt it, sony use the same stick when consoles are sent for repairs so they'd be screwing them selfs over

I would only think about doing it if it was a soft mod as it will be a game of cat and mouse - sony will bring out updates to block the hack each time.
Dont think I would risk being banned on the PS3 as my xbox is only good for offline playing now

it is basically a soft mod, you just plug a usb stick in the front power on and press eject quickly this boots the firmware from the usb stick before the official sony firmware.
the mod is only only while the usb stick is in as soon as u remove it then its back to normal

Sony have released firmware 3.42 which stops the jailbreak from working so if your planning on getting one dont update. The new firmware stops your usb ports and also blocks groove, both groove and ps jailbreak developers are working on an update to counter act.

Long story short if you dont play online your ok, if you do then i'd buy another console for it......

The Logan5 Proxy still works apparently so you can still access the PSN without updating but as the PS3 records and sends everything it does it will be interesting to see if anyone who's been running the back-up manager does get banned as i think they take piracy a bit more seriously than MS.

jail broke my spare ps3 yesterday using my HTC Hero. works great not had any probs backing up games or playing from internal or external hdd.

few apps out now such as ps3 ftp, custom firmware launcher and demo installer.

the scene is moving pretty damn fast lol
