Shell Channel Gateway Folkestone Services M20 Junction 11, Hythe, Kent, CT21 4GH

:)

Ummm...other things...

- make sure you've told your insurance company you're going to Germany - they like to know in advance
- European Health Insurance Card (free)

That's probably enough for now - there are checklists available from the AA, directgov.org etc about what to take with you for nearer the time (i.e. passport, insurance docs, vehicle reg docs, etc)

Take all paperwork for the car:
Insurance, MOT, Registration, Driving Lic (Both parts)
You'll be fined in Germany if anything is missing.

Considering what we are all about to spend in Fuel - warn your credit card company in advance.

Go to the Travelex website the day before and order your currency for collection at Dover Docks - better rate, no transaction fee either. It's always worth having enough cash in your pocket to cover the transaction you are about to put on card, saves embarrassment! you card can get refused if the lines are down to your bank... and you will find many a German restaurant / Supermarket or small hotel will not take credit cards regardless.

Oh... and don't forget passport and ticket / reservation!

Just checked and unfortunately the Dover East Docks office doesn't open until 20 mins after we've sailed

Really?? Poop!

Well oddly enough M&S or Post Office usually come out reasonable second best to Travelex pre-order.

Being in London, you can get far better rates if you pass Waterloo station at any point (ICE)

That's a shame... do you wanna see if you can get your room switched to a twin and save me a fortune?

I can't amend the room unfortunately as it was the cheapy deal, however, there's likely to be a pull-out bed in there as pretty much all these rooms will sleep 3. You're welcome to take a chance on that if you want?

Forgot to reply to this - yea please if that's OK - if the worst comes to the worst I'll have an airbed and a sleeping bag! I am trying to remember the room from Dover, I think that had a sofa bed type dealy.

Thanks John.

Sorted breakdown cover today (hopefully paperwork will come through in time), and a wallet full of paperwork for ferry bookings, insurance, v5, passport etc etc. I've had an EHIC for ages and so now I just need to tell my insurance company tomorrow that I'm off out and about :thumleft: I've got a 400W mains inverter as well so if you've got anything that might need charging but you don't have a car charger, bring your UK mains chargers and I can help!

I am just gonna use cash machines while I'm over there for Euros - I get a preferential rate from Natwest anyway and their cash machine charge is negligible.

I hope you are all prepared for the Belgian motorways, which are so well illuminated you can see them from space  Sunglasses are a requirement!

We are looking forward to Dudecity too! We are looking so hard forward, we leave one day earlier and arrive on Thursday because we can't wait.

Been there, done that... cleaning and sweeping the marketplace, make the churchbells shiny, that kind of little things.. \:D/

Of course :thumleft:

I always take a socket set and a trolley jack (in fact they rarely leave my car) and they have been used every time we've been to Le Mans, although never on my car

I'm getting pretty good at this camping in an MR2 malarky now so hopefully between us we will have everything we could possibly need!

can I please confirm numbers for the curry Thurs night in Sittingbourne?

Also, what time do you want to make it? I'm assuming not a late one!

Me for one :)

As I'm no longer having to wait for Yana to get back from work, I can be there whenever.

No problem Malc, will throw the water carrier in.
I was going to bring my stove as well with kettle, tea bags, milk, sugar etc.

Would be great to use the pump for my blow up mattress as well! :thumleft:
My 11 year old nephew is looking forward to it soooo much he is bouncing!

I think i have everything covered, insurance, breakdown, passport, Euro's (Mario owes me for some parts i am taking over there that he could not get in Germany so that should cover those who paid me plus a bit left over)

Going to give the car a final polish Thursday night, fill her right up, check tyre pressure, oil, fill up the NOS bottle  , and ensure the methanol tank is full. \:D/

I have stove, four gas canisters, kettle etc, so if people want to make it a communal one to save room I have no problem with that. I am running along on my own so won't be carryign that much stuff with me anyway.

Need to leave room to carry beer and wine back to the UK :cyclops:
