REV3 MR2 Turbo Track Car

Post by jonb- »

With a heavy heart it’s time to sell my beloved MR2. I’ve literally spent more time fiddling with it (in a good way) than I have driving it thus this hasn’t been an easy decision.

Originally purchased for trackdays, I started stripping it out as soon as I bought it. In the 4 years with me it’s been 100% reliable doing about about 7 days in total.

To keep it sweet in the 6000 miles I’ve covered in it it’s had:
- a full oil change every 2nd track day or 1000 miles (which ever sooner)
- gearbox oil
- full ignition replaced
- many changes of brake fluid
- camblet replaced twice with all idlers etc
- water pump
- coolant change twice
* All fluids have been high end Motul fluids.

It’s not had much use the past 15 months which is why I’m selling it. In fact, I’ve covered less than 2000 miles since the start of 2009 but I still use it every couple of weeks to commute to work in (40 miles) to keep her happy.

I’ll link to the full specification in my garage but here are what I think of as the key selling points:

- Only 65,000 miles. Unstressed 310bhp with dyno charts to prove it
- Full stripped / prepared for trackdays or racing (sans cage)
- Probably the best setup MR2 in the country
----Brand new inverted BC racing coilovers (£900)
----Brand new tein tenson rods (£300)
----Cusco braces front and back
----Full High and tight polybushes
----Full setup by Tony @ wheels-inmotion
- 2 sets of wheels, one being a set of much desired Volk TE37s with nearly new kumho v70a track tyres and one a set of lovely Enki wheels with decent Falken FK452’s on.
- Both front calipers reconditioned
- Built in laptimer
- Full ST205 chargecooler setup
- Cases and cases of spares and original parts

There are of course a few bad points of a car of this type and age, but no show stoppers
- paint work showing it’s age
- crease in left door sill where i bounced over the grass on a track day (whoops!)

Serious offers only please as this is a serious car.

Stats:
1150kgs with fuel
Runs at 0.95 bar @ 300bhp on track - potential for more
0-60 GPS timed at 4.3 seconds
Lapped Donington National in 1.22. Kept up with pretty much everything.

I fully suggest anyone serious about buying the car come and spend some time with me and the car so I can give you a proper introduction. There is a serious extras pack including all original parts, big carbon GTwing, spare tyres, spare things like steering rack etc.

Due to the new suspension, low mileage and amount of spare parts offers welcome around £5000 depending on parts taken.

Pictures in my garage. I will get more pictures if anyone is serious about this track beast, I'm in no rush to sell it (if at all!)
