got the link to this from Shinny a month or so ago on his project thread, thought id buy it and give it a bash!
i didnt think he bought one in the end.
anyway, lots of details of sensor on this ebay page
the resistance specs seem to match up very well to oem, perfectly within range.

I can confirm it is highly responsive!!
this is the sensor that i see my intake temps from on my commander unit.
I'm seeing very similar temp readings so I know these to be correct give or take.
On boost tho I can see the temps go from say 37-50c in literally 2-3seconds on a 3rd gear pull.
Then off the throttle it'll go back down to low 40s within a few seconds. Then min or so later drop back to high 30s. like how It should be I'd guess???
Bare in mind it was 24-25c saturday!!
(i generally see about 10-15C above ambiant when cruising, and maybe 20-25C max over ambiant when on boost)
the oem sensor would struggle to even reach 42-45C from a 37c starting temp. its extremely slow and not really showing true temps from what i can gather.
Before, as many know on the power fc, you may only notice a few degree jump when on boost over a couple of seconds. then when off the throttle it'll carry on rising the temps as it's starting to heatsoak slightly, so generally get a tad higher even off boost, then slowly after a couple of mins or so off boost driving slowly come back down to normal.
So old sensor you'd never really get to this rapid increase in temp readings. Unless in a higher gear.
This thing responded in milli seconds!! Like I say it jumped from 37,38,39,40,41,42,42,44,45,46,47,48,49,50 on the commander in 2-3seconds! Very quick.
oem sensor, as i mentioned above i dout would have got past 42-45C!
Pros, it showing you real time temps!
Is not lagging behind like the stock sensor!!
is not heatsoaking like the stock sensor.
But end of the day, it's not as if the stock sensor has killed engines has it, so I can't imagine it's a massive advantage.
but certainly a good guide to true realtime temps.
not like the laggy stock oem sensor
required cutting off oem plug and wiring this on into the stock harness.

I used the open philiment type from GTS Chris, a GM one I think. Does the same as your one but cost more!
When mapping the temps were moving instantly on boost with the GM one as well.

This is with a Phoenix power ic running 1.4bar and 400hp.
So not quite a stock ic!! Lol.
(widely considered the best sidemount ic for the mr2)
I've had a gm sensor on my old car, that was hardly any different to a stock sensor in terms of temp readings and speed IMO.
Certainly nowhere near what I have experienced in the short time I've had with this sensor!!

I'd guess if you could find out if there are different fueling/timing maps for different intake temps with the stock ecu, maybe a benefit.
I'd think it's mainly a standalone type upgrade really when tuners need accurate temps to dial in timing.

Excellent find Jim. Ordering mine now. I always thought these PP intercoolers had to be better more efficient than what I was seeing on the Commander.

The OEM ECU will be programmed to account for the speed / response of the stock sensor - so I doubt there will be anything to be gained here..
However, those running aftermarket I can see some real plus sides..
Now for the Downside..
How robust is that sensor? the thermistor is very exposed there (hence the speed)

these type of sensors have been in maf meters for years now (inlet temp sensor ) and in vw for about 12 years , in the boost pipe after the intercooler
car now sold

Installed this sensor a week ago,.. WOW what a difference!
my gen3 sensor moved like 1 degree at most going through 4th gear with 2bar of boost. This sensor shows a 9 degree difference!
like 29C to 38C, and then back down to 29C within like 20 seconds.
Very good buy imo.
I also manage to remove old oem denso pins and replaced them with two bosch pins, so the install is oem looking to.
