[Mk2] [NA] lambda sensor for rev1

Post by as8133 »

I have a rev1 (chassis number <58000) even though its a K plate, and i need a 2 pin lambda sensor as the flexi i bought has a 4 pin. Does anyone know where i could get a 2 pin connector? If not then does anyone know how to connect a 4 pin lambda to a rev 1 engine?

I'm confused :?

MR2s only use single wire or 4 wire O2 sensors.

Your thread says N/A, your profile says Turbo.

What car is this related to, and what revision, and UK or JDM?

This confused me too. The mechanic i have taken it to says that it needs a 2 wire sensor to attach to the place in the engine that the wire goes. HGowever the flexi pipe i replaced has a 4 wire attached which is wrong. I could really do with some advice on this as its the only thing twarting my MOT aspirations!! :-)

UK Rev1 N/A does not have an oxygen sensor.

Dump your mechanic.

That might explain why the wire was cut on the old flexi then!! It should presumably go straight through an MOT then? Might be using pacific works from now on as luke is only down the road.

Yep, goes though a non-cat test. Should be easy if all is in order.

IIRC, CO <= 3.5%, HC <= 1200ppm.

A "K" plate is Aug92 on, which should, as a UK car, have a cat, and should be subject to a cat test. Should you get a muppet MOT tester, be prepared to tell him it's a 90/91 spec and that there is no plug on the loom. If it has been tested previously on the online system, the car should already be setup for a non-cat test.

Having looked at the previous MOT fail sheet where there was nothing attached at the cat-flexi point the natural idle test gave 0.722% with a limit of <=0.500%, hence a fail, but the car has beenstanding for a very long time (previous MOT was 2006). Test was for a catalyst equipped vehicle with a closed loop control. Presumably this then means that the test was a cat test and not a non-cat test. Good old Kwikfit.
