[quote="Scott Barton"]Just checked for ferry crossings again...and those exact ones i posted up in my first post are now £49 each way!!! WTF?????
Checked other options and there is a £79 return Dover > Boulogne with LD Line
Thats still not too bad if you can share the cost with a passenger but quite alot to pay out if there's only one of you in the car

Scott do you have any idea how much things such as entrace to the show, camping etc will cost?
When would we need to book?

Re: Duderstadt, Germany - 30th July > 1st August. IMOC attendance!
Scott, could you do some more digging? We will need to know whether camping needs to be booked, whether there's an entrance fee to the event etc.
Google maps (Clicky) reckons around 8hrs from Calais to Duderstadt (455 miles, tank and a half there, tank and a half back) but that's not taking autobahns into account which sadly are not all unrestricted! I think autobahns and rest breaks would cancel each other out so 8hrs is a sound estimate. If we were looking at getting there around 5pm (which I think would be sensible, an hour or so to set up shop and then time to start drinking ) then we'd be talking driving off the ferry at 9am! As the continent is 1hr ahead of us that would be 8am our time.
Seafrance have a sailing arriving at 09:10 which leaves at 06:40... which would mean me leaving my house at 03:30 Or they have a sailing at 08:15 which arrives at 10:30. That would get us to Duderstadt about 18:30 but it would mean I don't have to get up until 04:35 which is a bit more manageable! [/selfish]
P&O are similar, ferries at 05:55 or 07:30. The 07:30 one sounds ideal but is expensive!
Would we be coming back on the Sunday or Monday?
At the moment it's looking like:
Costs:
Ferry £70 return (P&O or Seafrance)
Euro Brakedown Insurance £35 (Tesco provided your car is 16 or under) or £80 (Sky if you are insured with them and not under 16 )
Fuel 4 tanks = 220l = £277 in UK money, probably -10% on the continent so £250 give or take
Camping/entry ticket TBC
Spending money! I don't see any toll roads on our route so that's really just food and beer. The fryup on the ferry is ace but costs about a tenner for example.
Requirements (stolen from one of Pete's posts re the Le Mans trip):
28. Fire extinguisher
29. GB sticker if you haven't got them on your numberplate (Use magnetic one on the boot lid, sticky ones leave a mess behind and everywhere else is plastic)
30. Headlamp Beam adaptors (I usually take 2 after having 1 set freeze off in Germany but that's unlikely considering the time of year we are talking about lol)
Most of the silly car bits can be got from Halfords and they have an offer on this stuff at the moment. MK2 MR2s are spare bulb kit 2
Click for Fire Extinguisher
Click for First Aid Kit
Click for Warning Triangle
Click for High Viz Vest
Click for Magnetic GB sticker
Click for Beam Adaptors
Click for spare bulb kit
That lot comes to just under £80, so worth shopping around (eBay?). A lot of it is stuff worth having though, even in this country.
Job done! If there is anyone coming from further afield we could stay over in the travel lodge on the A20 Thursday night, it's currently £29 a room! In fact that could be a good option (depending on numbers) if we are going to get an earlier ferry. £29 vs falling asleep at the wheel = no brainer

Mario
A few questions:
Does it cost anything to camp?
Do we need tickets? (I am guessing not)
What is the agenda? eg, where and when do you meet, what do we do etc

1.I don't know if it was splitted last year, but I think we paid a complete price for camping, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, barbecue on Saturday and drinks on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And all that as much as you can!
2.You don't need tickets. When Mario tells us the whole price, he puts everyone who wants to participate on a list and then you pay via bank transfer. And in Duderstadt you get a strap for your arm, that allows you to eat and drink for free.
3.Most of the people arrive on Friday afternoon, in the evening there is a campfire.
On Saturday we present our cars in the city of Duderstadt and in the afternoon, we do a drive? (I don't know the english word) through the nice countryside of Duderstadt (about 100km). And in the evening there is a campfire with barbecue, beer and so on
On Sunday we will have our breakfast and then everyone drives home, mostly in groups from people who drive in the same direction.
I hope you can understand my bad english. But if there are any questions, just ask

Looks like my GTR holiday is out, so might be interested in doing this.
Husband speaks German too so could be useful!
When you thinking of booking?

Sounds excellent!
As for booking...we can look at fery costs now and take it from there.
I have a DVD that MArio has sent me of last years meet and it does look very good. Anyone who would like to borrow it, drop me a PM and i will post it out.
Also, do a search on YouTube for some vids. There are a few on there.

I am VERY tempted by this, is there any scope for combining with any other meets? Alot to pack into three days, so maybe a trip via Nurburgring / go to another meet in another country on the way back?

Maybe we can meet one or two days before Duderstadt at the Nurburgring and then drive together to Duderstadt!?

I've been to Duderstadt last year but I've never been to the Nurburgring.
Re: Duderstadt, Germany - 30th July > 1st August. IMOC attendance!
I can budget £80.00 for ferry easily, and enough money for fuel. But any news on what its going to cost to cover entry, beer, food etc? Toxo, can always crash at mine if you want, its a sprited 1.5hr drive to Dover from mine, or get ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe and blast across France.

Re: Duderstadt, Germany - 30th July > 1st August. IMOC attendance!
Has anyone looked at Ramsgate to Dunkirk? Looks to work out at about £50 for the return if we go over on 30th and come back on the 2nd.

I am all for booking up the ferries now.
As for cost, i will have a gander over on the German forum and see what the score is. From what i can gather, last year people paid a one of price and in return had wrist bands which meant they could eat and drink all inclusive styleee!

When do you arrive in Germany? Maybe we can do a few laps on the Nurburgring and then drive to Duderstadt
