Water Temp Gauge?

Post by easty-5 »

I want to get a water temp gauge installed so I can keep a vigilant eye on temperatures.

I was going to install one using one of these:

Are these okay to use on the MR2? Also, what ID are the rad hoses?

Cheers,
Jamie

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Finding a place to put it though might be a different matter. Let me know what you come up with as I've considered the same thing but never got anywhere with it.

Safe bet on the ID of the pip would be to measure the OD and then take off about 6mm, then see where you're at with what sizes are on the market.

The only place i can think to put it would be on the rad hose at the front?

rad hose wouldnt measure engine coolant temp as if the thermostat is closed it wont be getting flow.

why do you need a gauge more accurate than the std one? have you modified the car in such a way that you have sensitive cooling issues?

I was having some overheating issues, I want to get a much more accurate reading to see if my temps are fluctuating.

I have done the same in my old 2.

The sensor is located in the red circle:

The diameter used was 30mm:

Directly under your air filter.
