Just been surfing ebay and come accross this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GT3076-A ... ccessories
I know it will be poop as it is, would sending it off to say Universal Turbos for a rebuild make it reliable and a decent Turbo?
Not really considering buying it just curious really

Doing that will end up costing as much as going genuine in the first place
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Chineese Turbos
I like the advert
Really?
2.Increase horsepower and torque apprently.
5. Direct bolt-on installation, no modification needed.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Chineese Turbos
Apparently they are do not know a turbo needs to be balanced
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Chineese Turbos
Leave it alone.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Chineese Turbos
Stay well away! Just save up and get the real deal. If you buy cheap, you pay twice!
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Chineese Turbos
Might be worth a go if you get it properly cleaned and inspected before fitting.
There have been a few people who have had success with turbos like these.

i suppose there has to be some sort of standard otherwise they wouldn't sell, and if they didn't sell they wouldn't make them, so they are obviously selling, would be good to have a spare car to put one on to test it

Someone on SXOC had (might still have, not sure) one on his S13 and it made 400bhp at the hubs, still ran fine after many times on the drag strip and months of use.
Theres quite a few guys on the USA mr2oc running Chinese T3 copys, some have success some dont.

that's the worrying part, the inconsistency, hmmmm,
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Chineese Turbos
Indeed, would you risk the turbine/compressor wheel crapping itself and lunching the engine? I wouldnt.
They're cheap for a reason, mainly because the materials and tolerances are substandard.
If its sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

i'm in two minds about it really, i wouldn't risk putting one on my own car but at the same time they must be made to some kind of standard otherwise nobody would buy them, and people must be buying them otherwise they wouldn't be for sale, which they are
might have a hunt on some of the other forums see if i can find anythin out, i agree though, if it seems to good to be true..........
then you're on the real hustle!!!

I dont think thats true. If they were manufactured to a standard, say germany's TUV which is globally respected as a decent standard, then
a) the costs of the item would be higher(so theres no way they;d sell at $170)
and
b) they'd plaster it all over the advert to make themselves look legit.
You only need to search chinese turbos on Youtube and you should see examples of these turbos crapping themselves on the dyno.
Avoid them like a hooker with herpes.

oh dear, on that note then...... haha, na i would never consider one for my own car, i'm away to have a look on youtube
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Chineese Turbos
Don't do it..! I've got one in the garage which lasted ~12k miles before it fell apart. False economy and I was lucky to have an undamaged engine after.
I could get some pics if anyone was interested.
I've got a Garrett GT3071r on there now and it's 100% better....
