Its just another item in the engine bay that does nothing other than make my car smell nice and be kind to the environment.

It's job is to absorb fumes from the fuel tank, cleanse the nasty stuff out then throw the remains into the intake to be burnt as normal
- as mentioned, it's an emmisions reduction step.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

It technically shouldn't pass the MOT without it, as you are not allowed to directly vent any gases to the atmosphere.
