Rev 3 - odd noise on cold start up......can anyone help???

Hopefully its not big ends! Sounds like it could be turbo/manifold gasket too though, ive had that and it does sound like a tapping.

hey rob, the gasket part sounds better than big ends!!!!

to be honest we have said if it takes spending some cash to get the car running at 100% its worth the money.... as long as its not a rebuild!

Sounds like it could just be the water pump mate, good luck getting it all sorted anyhow

may also be sumthing to do with the clutch but why would it only make the noise when the engine was cold

would be so much easyr if we could see or here it, we could guese the diagnosis all day

hmm it does, had a simmiler exspeariance with a corsa GSI ,what ever it is i hope its not as bad as we all first thort

when the car is cold and being noisy, does the noise go when you rev the engine and come back when you let off the pedal? or is it just there all the time, at the same speed, regardless off what the loud pedal is doing?

right then got the car back.

The timing belt on the car was for a rev2. changed it for a rev3 and the noise has totally gone!

The car now runs super smooth when you fire it up.

Anyone else heard of this as nobody mentioned this lol

good news buddy i exspect it could be easyly done as there on a tooth diffrence in the rev2 and rev3 cambelts, i had the wrong one on mine but ran fine went to change the belt and rearlized it wasnt tight enough popped the right one on nice an tight, just a guesse but maybe the timming was out aswell?
