Hi Guys (& Gals?),
So, i'm quite familiar with this rather awesome site already, having used it as a lot of inspiration and guidance when buying my MR2. I usually hang around at MR2OC, but i thought i'd be polite and introduce myself here!
Anyways, my name's Jay, i'm 18 and i drive a '97 Rev4 N/A MR2...and before anyone asks why i didn't choose a Turbo, try getting some insurance quotes for an 18 year old lad!
Enough about me, now on to my car! It took me about 3 months to decide what car i wanted as a second motor. I finally settled on an MR2, after researching other jap cars and such. It took another few weeks after that, and about 8 viewings to finally settle on my current car! (I had quite high standards!) About 6 weeks ago now, i found one!
Well, this is the car i finally settled on:
Verdict: I couldn't be happier! Check out my garage to see some further info.
I've added a few little touches such as my private plate, sound system etc...and i've just received a Rogue Stage 2 Service for Xmas, booked in for the beginning of Jan. I also had it Waxoyled a couple of weeks ago, just in time for the snow!
It really is such a pleasure to drive a car like this, and it's certainly a step up from my last (first!) car!
I'm guessing some of you are members on MR2OC too, so you may have seen all this before, but i hope to get to know the rest of you on IMOC in the future!
Peace!
Jay

RedMr2: what's the visual difference between a rev3 and a rev4?

Exterior wise:
on a UK car, rev3's have orange/white front lenses, rev 4's have all clear front lenses.
on an import, rev3's have all orange front lenses and toblerones, rev 4's have all clear front lenses and UK side repeaters.

Thanks for the welcome's and kind comments
Now that all the snow has finally melted outside my house, i think i'll be taking a quick bucket of soap 'n' water to the car tomorrow, just to get rid of any grit etc. The car is entirely rust free - not a single spot of it anywhere - and that's the way i want to keep it! (I actually feel guilty not owning a garage to put it in!)
Oddly enough, the car was advertised as a Rev3...but after doing a bit of research (chassis codes, exterior/interior discrepancies etc) i figured out it was actually a Rev4. Nice!

not all rev 4 wheels were diamond cut though, thought it was just on the anniversary editions?

could be wrong then, always thought it was all rev4's
Re: Long time lurker...just joined up!
Nope, not all Rev4's had the Diamond Cut wheels. It's worth noting too that the wheels on my car were refurbished by the previous owner not long ago, so it may have actually had the Diamond Cut wheels in the past anyway.
The main clue for telling that it is a Rev4 is the chassis code. Also, the clear lights at the front and airbag steering wheel (yes, some Rev3's also had airbag wheels, but not all) are other clues.

Haha, 13 months and counting...
Saying that though, i only travel about 5 miles a day along the same route to work.
I've seen plenty of coppers about on my travels though, but not a word has been mentioned yet. The day that i get warned for it, i'll change it...but until then...

What about passenger airbag ?

As far as i can tell, i lack a passenger airbag. I thought only Rev5's and a limited number of Rev4's had these?

Passenger airbags, as far as I know were a feature on the import cars rev 4 & rev 5
