It would appear I have lost one of the old castle nuts that attach the manifold onto the Mongoose exhaust. Could someone tell me what there proper name and part number is and what torque setting I need to put them on with so they dont undo again please. I did buy a couple a long while back but lost them before i fitted them
Also is it worth sticking some liquid gasket in there before I bolt it all together again?

you need some M10 X 1.25mm pitch metric fine "stiff" nuts not Nyloc ones from your local engineers merchants probably best to get stainless ones

Re: Lost my nuts.
first link are way too stupidly expensive & second link are just std. nuts
genuine ones from Toyota are only about £1.00 each i recon from an engineers mercchant they will be no more than 40p
Ok now you have edited 2nd link they are what you need but a qty. of 50 is a bit of overkill! you will get them in qty. of 1 from engineers merchants

Re: Lost my nuts.
If they are anything like the nuts on the mk2 turbo exhaust + manifold they will be single use - they're slightly oval shaped so they grip when first tightened up but once you take them off they're misshapen so you can't use them again. Might be where your initial problem came from!

I use tention washers and tighten up as tight as poss with a ratcheting ring spanner or socket and then tweek with a 1' breaker bar. Check after a couple hundred miles just to be sure.

As tight as you can get them works for me. I've found that the various threads easily get clogged up with crap particularly with them being pretty exposed under the car and with the temperatures they get up to. You can find yourself applying loads of torque to the nuts whilst still not actually applying much clamping load to the exhaust flange simply because you're just working against the friction in the threads.
Ideally you want to use new studs and nuts plus run a tap down the threads in the manifold to clean them up. At a push if new studs/nuts aren't available then just cleaning up the threads on the old studs/nuts with a tap & die will make things much better.be fine.
Re: Lost my nuts.
Considering how much Mr T want for just 2 i may buy these:

I presume they would fit?
Had a look around for engineering supplier in Southampton but most have closed down.

Re: Lost my nuts.
I drilled out my downpipe with 10.2mm bit, and re-tapped for m12 1.75 thread. No more leaks!!
The originals are a weedy size imo

Re: Lost my nuts.
All i want to do is just bolt the thing back together since it only has one bolt on it at present. So would the E-bay one fit?
Thats the reason they fell off i re-used the old nuts.
