FWIW SVA is now IVA - more expensive and stricter than it was, but still passable.
I concur on the insurance, when I renewed the GTM earlier this this year it was £158.00, then I told them about the engine conversion (doubled the bhp), it went up to £168.00

Thanks, the vids aren't quite capturing the sound right though, you should hear this thing in person, it's unreal.

Re: V8 Mk1 6 speed with power steering
Well my 50mm thick aluminium rad upgrade solution arrived today... hopefully this will cope with whatever the V8 can throw at it...
Here it is fitted, still got top brackets to make...
All of my standard steel radiator pipework has been ripped out and much larger diameter aluminium pipes run from front to rear, so no part of the stock aw11 cooling system remains now.... well it's an MR8 now isn't it!

Re: V8 Mk1 6 speed with power steering
I have started to weld in the chassis bracing, strength is my number one priority regardless of weight on this build. This engine revs so violently i'm not going to take any chances.
silencer
Have you thought about wrapping the silencer box?
We used aluminised glass matt on our rally car, does a great job at keeping the heat out of the engine bay and also looks very tidy. Would also offer the bodywork some protection as it looks like your rear panel will be rather close.
Great joband major respect, can't wait to see/hear it on a track.

Oddly enough i am planning on doing that exact thing! I spotted some aluminiumized matting in B&Q the other day and decided to wrap the silencer it in when it gets its final refit, my boot lid is going to sit very close so i think some heat shields will be needed as well

Not wanting to veer off topic here, but would that matting be any good for boxes under a Boot Mount IC.

Looking great there Paul.
Just to go back a page or so...... My 1.5 (which you saw the other week) is insured as a kit car. It reduced my policy from over £400 pounds on an N/A mk1 to a little over £100 for the Super Nail.
The insurance company changed the policy to suit the car since it has so many mods.

Seems to be although it is full of water at the moment! Going to put in away for the winter shortly and get the T Bar seals changed while I'm at it.

Re: V8 Mk1 6 speed with power steering
After studying the audi cooling system (as it would be on the S8) i discovered an Mr2 coolant filler point was not going to work, the highest rated cap i can find for the Mr2 is a 1.5bar Sard cap, and the S8 runs closer to 1.7bar max pressure.... so using the mr2 filler neck was binned off.
So i needed to look at the VAG way of doing things, and took a punt on a VW golf custom expansion bottle, this will plumb up correctly to the V8 system and will have the S8 stock 22psi cap fitted, it's also a bit of eye candy in the engine bay.

Well yes there is that i suppose! On that note, although i am not usually a sticker type person i saw this one on ebay and thought that definately has to go in my back window or under my engine lid!

Re: V8 Mk1 6 speed with power steering
Looking good again Paul
Just a thought - the TRD & TOMs rad caps are good for 1.8Bar.
But then you wouldn't have near as much bling
(Oh and TRD doesn't quite fall into Euro tuning circles )

Re: V8 Mk1 6 speed with power steering
I did not actually know that G, i thought 1.5 bar was the max, still keeping my blingy tank though
Re: V8 Mk1 6 speed with power steering
Must admit the highest SARD or TRD cap I've seen is 1.5.
Serious engineering there Paul!

I might be wrong then
I'll need to check the TRD on my car at some point
