The only issue with Bedford is noise, they're quite (very) strict there on driveby.

Do you need to be fully suited & booted (MSA approved kit) for the Licence?

I can answer that - no you don't! You only need that for actual racing. Indeed many places provide a helmet for you, and that's all you need. It's not real racing when you take the licence, more demonstrating control.

Thanks Toni. I was under the impression you did, but if not, then it breaks up the initial expense nicely :thumleft:

Update!

Okay, now we have the requisite number we can make bookings. From your feedback, I've selected Bedford Autodrome on Saturday January 23rd as the venue. The good news is that the price has dropped from the original discounted rate of £355.00 to £332.10! For this you get an open pit lane trackday in your own car, 20 minutes instruction and your ARDS test.

The number you need to call is 0870 850 5014 and quote reference Rogue Motorsport. Motorsport Vision will take your details and hold them on file until at least 10 people have registered, at which time the discount will apply.

This offer is open to anyone, so non-MR2 owning friends and family would also be welcome. It would be helpful if you could indicate on this thread that you have registered.

Pre-requisites:

- You must have your own car, and it must be equipped with a passenger seat and belt / harness for your instructor / examiner.

- You must bring along the application for from your MSA Go Racing pack.

- You will need to wear a helmet compliant with normal trackday requirements (I'm pretty sure you can hire these at Bedford if you don't already have a helmet). There is no requirement for you to have a race approved helmet or overalls.

Patrick,

If it's not a noisy day it's worth noting bedford are fairly strict with noise - worth getting anything much louder than stock checked out. I'll certainly be taking mine down before spending any money.

Also, if you only have a normal seat / seatbelt in the passenger side does that mean you can't do it?

Doh - have edited my post. It should have said that you must have a seatbelt or harness available (either is acceptable).

I'm doing a trackday at Bedford this weekend, don't think its a "noisy day", the reg's I've been given are 101 dbs at 3/4 revs, 50cm from each pipe. And 87.5 dbs driveby at 20metres.

Just thought you'd appreciate some figures.

It's the driveby that's the issue. They've 4 lots of sensors around the track too so it's not a case of lifting in a certain point :(

Hi Chaps,

Just to add, if anyone fancies doing just the trackday you can get a 10% discount by phoning 0870 850 5014 and quoting reference "Rogue Motorsport".

Happy days!

Nice one Scott :thumleft: :thumleft:

I'm assuming a decated g-limited on Mongoose exhaust will be fine for noise reg's...anyone know any better? If I might have issues I might leave the std exhaust on for this one :-k

I'd have thought a decatted anything would be a very bad idea at Bedford: One of our guys got black flagged once for noise this weekend on a VXR220 with a fully catted Milltek system and that's with the OEM filter and airbox :(

Your car will be fine Ashley. I was at Bedford last week with exactly the same spec. Sailed straight through noise testing.

Why not? I did mine there, was fine I thought. :+:

But sounds like Bedford will do the trick, good to see some interest. :+:
