[Mk2] [Turbo] smoking on boost

Post by simpson_eh »

when i start my car from cold and drive i get a greyish/blueish cloud of smoke when i accelerate thought it was my turbo so changed it but still the same did a compression test and got 180 180 180 190so they look ok plus not long had a piston changed

any ideas thinking maybe something in the head leaking oil

i know its overfueling a bit would it be this?

black - fuel - possibly just need a remap with the power fc
blue - oil - with what you have ruled out next best guess would be valve stem oil seals
white - water - possibly head gasket gone/cracked block

does it use any coolant or ever overheat?

When the piston was changed did you have new rings fiited and the bore honed?

Why did you need a new piston?

no damage to the bore was checked and new rings

i needed a new pistonn as i managed to remove most of the piston that seperated the rings on one side good inch of piston missing and rings seized

When new rings are fitted the bores have to be honed to get rid of the smooth finish so the rings can bed themselves in. If this is not done the engine will burn oil that comes up past the rings and you will get blow by that will make the engine breath lots more.
Do that cylinder with the new rings get honed?
