Grooved disc brake question

Post by karldavies »

I've got a bit of an odd question. I have just picked up some grooved discs for my mr2 and am unsure which way round they go

Do the grooves face in a clockwise direction or anticlockwise?

Cheers

pretty sure they arc forwards as if they were digging into water to propel you along - if that makes sense

They face rear-wards, anti-clock wise.

i cant think of the direction. but the idea of them is so when u put ur foot on the brake the pad pushed the water out of the groove.

ie clearing the disk of water faster and giving better brakeing.

so im thinking right to left

I think it's the gases that the heat generates between disk and pad that the grooves are supposed to 'flush', not water. No idea which direction they go though.

It's been covered before this one... At length!

My opinion (not that it counts!) is when you look at the top half of the disk it should spiral out towards the rear of the car. I've fitted lots like this on numerous cars without problem.

Cheers for the replies.i'm going with the majority vote and will have then going towards the rear of the car.Regarding the grooves they are to get rid of heat to reduce brake fade etc.Car looks awesome with them on by the way. :)
