Help! Need part no. for BOV O-ring

Post by sw20GTS »

While trying to install my HKS SSQV I accidently snapped the factory BOV's O-ring :( The rubber was very brittle and not elastic anyway so I reckon it would snap anyhow.

I am wondering if anyone could give me the part no (or sell the item itself) since I can't find it in the online epc.

Many thanks.

edit: Phoned Mr T and apparently there's no part no for the O-ring...just the whole BOV assembly ... ](*,)

I hope so ... I called earlier asking about the hose (it's actually around 54mm bore, with 5 mm thickness) for the intercooler and they said they have it in stock. So I went there and then they said no :(

I guess I will give Halfords another try...

Darn, what an unlucky day for me... ](*,)

Thanks for the suggestion anyway mate, will pop in later to see if they have it. Do I need any special requirements or any plain O-ring with the right diameter will do?

any old o ring will do, as long as it can take the heat. a plumbing place or something will have one, can't think where though!

I will give B&Q a try as well lol. The O-ring that snapped is red in colour. Rarely see any in that colour.

Lol actually found an O ring specialist based in Dundee :

http://www.tbsoring.com/

However, I'm not sure if they only deal with trade orders or will also manufacture (and perhaps stock) the O ring I'm after. Well, going to call them up tomorrow

Failing that I guess I'll just get this :

http://www.screwfix.com/prods/27385/Van ... Pc#reviews

Not very sure if its highly heat resistant though...

I did call Autosave up earlier mate, told them the details and they said they can't help me. Even asked about intercooler pipe still get the same answer.

HAha thanks will do mate. Honestly I am really hoping to get it over the counter so I can sort the BOV out this weekend!

I think I can find them black normal O rings but don't know if it will withstand the temp...

Damn lol, been all over Dundee and I can't find that damn O ring! Best fit I got was from B&Q but its slightly thinner (by 1mm) and its black! Not sure if its resistant to high temps...

I don't know if I should just use that in the mean time?

Was the worst that can happen if I used the replacement from B&Q? Just boost leak?

I just bought a pack of plumbing o-rings from Homebase and used the one which fitted best. 6 months on no issues :thumleft:

I posted on your wanted thread, I have one new in a bag I can send you for the price of postage.

I found that none of the o-rings I could get from Halfords or B&Q were thick enough. The standard o-ring is getting on for 5mm thick and even after using 2 Halfords ones at once it still didn't fill the tapered hole in the hard pipe.

Yeah that will be cool, might as well for spares. Sheppy aka Ryan came over and sorted the HKS for me! Brilliant guy :thumleft:
