What about this???
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gaming-Quad-Core- ... 286.c0.m14
Do you think that motherboard would support SLI? and that card is the Nvidia GTX version as opposed to the GT.

You'll want something like a ATI 4870x2/Nvidia GTX280 to run crysis on full at high res.

I agree mate, This is my system http://service.futuremark.com/resultCom ... ultType=14
I get over 20k in 3dmark and i run crysis maxxed and it uses everything my pc has to offer to get it that high
crysis is a b1tch to run mate

You don't need a quad core, just a Core 2 Duo with an nvidia 9xxx series video card, a decent heatsink/fan and 2GB+ fast RAM (eg. Crucial Ballistix) running at 1:1 CPU:DDR speed ratio.
Edit: I completed Crysis Warhead using 1280 res on my XP system using this spec:
Asus P5Q mainboard
Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz overclocked to 3.6 with Gigabyte Power Cooler
DDR2 400 2GB Crucial Ballistix RAM
nvidia 9600GT 512MB
OCZ Core v2 120GB SSD
No page file set

Re: Which of these PC's (cheapest) will run Crysis on High/Very High at highish res?
1280x1024 would be decent enough - looking at systems with 2x4870's or the GTX280 pushes the price right up abit beyond what I can afford right now (I need a new gearbox)
A mate has a PC he has been running overclocked (E5200 Dual Core CPU running at 3.33Ghz with arctic freezer 7 pro cooling), 4GB RAM (albeit not the fastest at 800mhz) and a single 8800GT, looking at that link from Toms, it says I might be able to get away with around 30fps with this card at 1680x1050 and hes happy to sell it to me fairly cheap as hes upgraded, what do you guys think?
Wasent there a imoc member who builds PC's and sells them on ebay?

An 8800GT may be able to run Crysis at 1680x1050 at 30fps, but you'll have to set the detail levels and AA to the lower end of the scale to maintain that framerate.
Hell my QuadCore 2.83ghz/280GTX/4GB/Vista x64 system can still struggle with some parts of Crysis, it really is a resource hungry game!

Do you think its possible to get a rig for about £400 or so that will run it at decent settings
I used to have a DELL XPS 420 (Quad Core Q6600) 2x3870's (1GB) and that could run it at high on 1440x900 - if I could run it at that level again, i'd be mroe than happy, how does the 8800GT compare to 2x ATI 3870's? I'm also assuming that dual core processor is gonna be better than the Dell's quad core (since games dont use quad core yet, although I heard that Crysis does??? is that true?)
I was using this as a guide:

From what I understand Crysis can support 4cores when running under a 64bit OS.
I think £400 is a bit tight personally, the kind of graphics hardware you'll want to push Crysis to its limits will be most of that £400.

I'm not so sure mate, check these two out:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... -OK&tool=5
...which I would throw in this card (perhaps upgrading the PSU):
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... subcat=939
or....
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... -OK&tool=5
Stock or with the above card swapped for existing one (which would give me slight discount)

They may "run" crysis mate but not as you are hoping, ie with all the eye candy turned on and running super smooth because my pc is maxxed out doing that and i'm running an hd4870x2

Thats fine fella, but I'd be happy if I could run it at high/very high at 1280x1024, it doesnt need to be ultra, I could even buy the cheap PC above - a new PSU and this:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... ubcat=1403
for all in all about £520 and I'm sure I could run it very well with that above?
What would your best recommendation be for under £500? (for gaming)

a ps3
seriously mate i made the mistake of building a pc to run crysis and tbh it's not as good as batman on the ps3!
You really wann pay £500 to play a game?
Re: Which of these PC's (cheapest) will run Crysis on High/Very High at highish res?
I suggest you get yourself an AMD64 system with 1 8800gtx and 2 gig of ram running xp-64 and play far cry 64. Far better than crysis ever was and ever will be!
Still looks awesome today. Also try out Alien Vs Predator gold if you can find it, awesome game and again far better than crysis.
If you must play it go for http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... 44&subcat=
That'll run it at medium settings which tbf still look amazing!

Re: Which of these PC's (cheapest) will run Crysis on High/Very High at highish res?
Ok guys I went for this instead:
Sapphire ATI Radeon 5870
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.20GHz
Asus M4A785TD-V Evo AMD 785G (Socket AM3)DDR3 Motherboard
4GB DDR3 PC3 1600MHZ RAM
650W PSU
....
from OcUK and built it myself! runs VERY well!
On the subject of Batman, is that game any good? ive heard good things about it but looks a bit boring from the pics!
I'll be getting a ps3 when GT5 comes out in march 2010
Tubby back on the road after christmas all being well too.
