Cheap air filter for induction roar

Post by Peter C »

I'm not fussed about performance gains, all I want is a little more induction roar.

Would this do the job?

* Adds up to 5 to 8 additional horsepower

Better read that as minus 10hp due to heatsoaking.

How is that different to more expensive cone filters?

do not buy one of them!

i bought a very very similar one from ebay and it killed my engine..and my turbo! the metal plate at the top of the filter sucked its self into my turbo, smashed a couple of blades and caused all round engine failure, maybe just my bad luck but i'm still paying for it to this day! get your self a brand name filter. like an apexi of HKS, check the for sale section, a second hand one will be cheaper and do the job fine.

Check the forsale sections

and also the car breaking section.

Always one or two up for sale.

I have a BMC closed box on mine with a DIY effort to mate to the toms scoop.

Metal pipe also gives an increase in roar.

No noticable gains or decreases in performence :thumleft:
The viper ones are similar but also quite expensive but you do get the whole kit ready to fit.

K&N, Pipercross, green are also decent brands that are a little less than Apexi/ HKS Blitz etc :thumleft:

I know 3S are making full metal hardpipes which will really help with your induction roar.

I had one of the cheap ebay ones Had no problems with it and sounded great.

Just be careful and make sure you give it a full visual and prod about to make sure there is nothing loose. :thumleft:
