Fuel consumption after De-cat

Post by mr2turbo99 »

Hi Guys

just a quick one.....does the fuel consumption typically go up or down after doing a decat? Or does it remain the same. Sounds strange but ive heard conflicting reports.

Thanks

Depends how you drive it though, as decatting also raises the boost. If you use more boost then you use more fuel :)

tis true! Mines a daily driver so i dont rag it everywhere. Does a De-cat raise the boost in 1st and 2nd to? Because my understanding is that it is limited to around 7psi

I think thats right if you still have the vsv plugged in. Otherwise you still dont tend to get full boost in first anyway, as its over too quickly.

yep ive noticed that, with my vsv recently disconnected, first feels much the same, but i can normally reach just under full boost in second which is different to before, which will therefore use more fuel
