Any one heard of a "AQUA! ECU? pic posted!

Post by saj8162 »

Just been trying to find out wht upgrades etc my car has got, as when i bought it did not come with much paper work,

Image

Ive noticed its fitted with a AQUA ECU? im guessing this is some sort of upgrade?.. as the orriginal one is still lying in the boot? ive tried to google it but can't seen to find anything on it,

Its a rev1 turbo, its got a after market exhaust, stainless steel one, i couldn't find anything on it to see what make it is,

Its running at 0.6 bar im guessing this is standard boost, on tick over its sitting on this.. is this normal?

and this thing..Image

is that a manual boost control?

sorry if i sound thick lol..not very good with the mechanical side, but learning,

cheers guys,

Looks to be a techtom type board, like the blitz access, sard analyse and mines ecus.

Google finds a site called http://www.aqua-fsp.co.jp/

But it doesnt exist anymore.

Probably like the other jdm ones its got higher rev limit, fuel cut removed etc.

ive never heard of an aqua management system.. is that not a normal ecu with some extra stickers on??

and yeah the brass thing in the last pic looks like an mbc.

on tickover the car will show negative boost. at about what ur showing.

on boost 0.6 bar sounds like actuator presure.

what do you mean when you say "actuator presure" ?

an as for the ECU i dont think its just a normal one with a sticker on it, ive got the orriginal one that came with the car, the aqua sticker is more of a metal plate than a sticker

turbos have a device attached to them called an actuator. (without any boost controller its the thing that regulates the pressure it producess) ie giving you a certain amount of boost.

without a boost controler you will be running on actuator presure. ie about 0.5-0.6 boost altho it does look like you have a manuall boost controller fitted. maybe it isnt plumbed in or adjusted up?

why don't you try the standard ecu to see if there is a noticeable power difference between the ecu's...

sometimes uprated boards also change fuel cut or the rev limiter etc. also...

you could try running 12-13 psi, things worth checking though are weather the car is using the standard cylinder head gasket and is the turbo standard.. :-k

pretty much sure the turbo is standard, as for the head gasket, recently had a full head rebuild, and im guessing the gasket was standard,
Listed parts below

Timing belt
head gasket set
oil filter
2x inlet valves
2x exhaust valves
set cylinder head bolts
engine oil
antifreeze
turbo blled vlave
pressure test cylinder ehad
re-face 12 x valves
re-cut 16 x valve seats
strip, clean, cyslinder head, refit cams, reset tappets

Its pretty good on fuel,
