[Mk2] [NA] binding brakes

Post by aliendoughnut »

how hard is it to get the sliding pins out of the front brake assembly?
my o/s front wheel is getting hot after a journey.
I took the front wheel off to see if there was anything to see i took the 2 small bolts out of the sliders but i couldn't get the sliders out to put some copper slip on. do you just pull off the rubber seals off? i didn't want to force them in case i split them

The rubber boots are easily pushed/pulled from the sliders, I doubt you'd break them unless they're already in a terrible state and need replacing anyway.

Don't use copper grease, that'll cause them to seize again later. Use a high temperature lithium grease :thumleft:

Yes, the discs are held on by the wheels (although they won't actually fall off due to the caliper & bracket).

I had to get my bottom pin out by clamping the bracket in a vice. It was bent as one on the pistons had seized.
