OK, just completely moved the IMOC database to our new Dedicated server.

Hopefully this will solve the connect errors issue - but note pages will take a little longer to generate now as the database is remote from the webserver.

We're aware that earlier this afternoon people may have been getting a lot of failure to connect errors from IMOC from around 5pm.

This was related to our move in server and should have been resolved around 9pm this evening.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

For those wanting to know why - a combination of two separate issues caused the problem.

1. DNS records for IMOC were pointing to our old server rather than our new one ( this is now fixed ).

That wasn't a problem in itself, but it became one when ..

2. Our old server's monthly bandwidth quota was used up and throttled back.

This resulted in the backend database which contains all the site content not being reachable in practice resulting in the errors people saw.

A further update - I've made a couple of small code changes in the last couple of days.

At the moment, things are looking good - page load times are reduced, and I've yet to see in the database logs any reused connections.

I'll keep an eye on this for the next 48 hours, but touch wood it might now be resolved.

This is now resolved - I'm not seeing any more failure to connect errors.

A good side effect is that pages are being generated a lot more quickly than before :+:
