Link?
If they're the ones from the States, you have to ensure that they're correctly set up for driving on the left hand side of the road. Also, in order to pass the MOT, they have to have an E marking on them (If I remember correctly...).

If they're anything like my Raybrigs, massive improvement over standard. But I've never seen the crystal ones in person so can't compare them.

Max, where did you get your Raybrigs from?

If its these

then they are properly reflected but does not have E markings so may still fail. Its not that big a job to change out the bowls why not just keep a pair and change them out for the MOT?

I bought them from TCB parts (advertised in the Mk1 Club mag). However, I was recently asked this by another member so looked it up on their site and they no longer list them. Mind you, I bought mine a couple of years ago now.
It may be worth getting in touch with them directly to see if they can still get them even though they don't list them. I believe they're the same as those used on Rev1 Mk2s...

I've had a quick flick throughh google and the like, and there's nowhere obvious that lists them (much like a lot of MK1 aftermarket kit  ).

I'll have a go with some of Halfords' brighter bulbs and take things from there.

Yeah, Mk1 stuff seems to be disappearing.

These guys:

Send them an email or give them a call... ;)

Bought those that Tiny showed, went through MOT no prob, they do look good and with some decent bulbs are a big improvement.

MOT doesnt check for type approval of reflectors, so they can only fail if they dont meet the lighting requirements. they cant fail purely because they arent e-marked. however not being e-marked still makes them illegal for road use, you just have to hope VOSA never check your car over. its highly unlikely, but not impossible.
